About this ebook

We all have a dark side which we go out of our way to keep hidden. We usually keep the monster within well-hidden when we are trying to impress friends, lovers, colleagues and anybody else with whom we wish to get along. For most of us the monster within only makes brief appearances. For others the monster chooses not to hide at all – these people are fully paid up members of the Toxic Zodiac. So, who are they? And where do you fit when you’re at your worst?
It’s time to meet the Toxic Twelve:
Aggressive Aries: Aggressive, selectively deaf and intolerant.
Toxic Taurus: Self-indulgent, materialistic bore. Slow moving and prone to epic rages.
Gossipy Gemini: A vicious gossip, your star sign is synonymous with cheating.
Crabby Cancer: At your worst you are a clingy, moody one person whingefest. Over-sensitive and overbearing you just won’t give your partner room to breathe will you?
Lordly Leo: Wow the ego has landed! Stubborn, wilful and foul tempered.
Vicious Virgo: The zodiac’s nit-picking, hypochondriac
Low Libra: Along with Leo you are the vainest of the Zodiac signs. You are as nit-picking as any Virgo and as much of a gold digger as Capricorn at their worst.
Scathing Scorpio: Vengeful, vindictive and ruthless, everyone hides when you come round the corner.
Snarky Sagittarius: Hot-headed and argumentative, you are notorious for failing to look before you leap. You are also supremely tactless and incapable of being faithful.
Cruel Capricorn: You are as critical and perfectionist as Virgo and even more status seeking.
Arrogant Aquarius: One of the zodiac’s voyeurs, like Scorpio, you have the Scorpionic approach to privacy as well. Intellectually arrogant and judgmental, you are as supercilious and snarky as any Sagittarian at their worst. It’s second nature to you to point how inadequate everyone else’s efforts are and how unoriginal their thinking is.
Pity Party Pisces: And now for the final sign in our rogue’s gallery – pity party Pisces. Oh dear you are a wet blanket, aren’t you? Misery loves company and you are more than happy to invite misery in for a nice bottle of wine.
The Toxic Zodiac walks you through the twelve Zodiac signs and explores Moon signs (emotions), Mars signs (levels of aggression and likely triggers, self-centredness), Mercury signs (communication style and how the person processes information) and Venus sign (behaviour in romance including jealousy, controlling behaviour and jealousy).
The Toxic Zodiac also covers how easy the twelve Zodiac signs find it to get rid of a toxic person along with their likelihood of becoming victims of toxic behaviour or exhibiting it.

Lorna MacKinnon

Who is this Lorna MacKinnon and why should you care? Because she knows her stuff and everything she writes is about you, about your Sun sign and how you can understand all that you need to know about it. Know yourself as Socrates said, right? If you don't know yourself and what you want, how can you possibly be expected to get it? Your Sun sign is about eighty percent of your astrological profile. So if you can master your understanding of this and take the appropriate action to obtain your desires, only you know what you can achieve. Given this knowledge and how you apply it, you really can write the narrative of your own life. Work out your strengths and how to really maximise them. Understand your weaknesses and determine how to transform them into strengths. Make your perceived weakest link your strongest. Rewrite your past history and reshape your memories into things that are positive and empowering, so that everything really works out for you. Create a powerful, motivational self-fulfilling prophecy that encourages you to move forward, shaping events as opposed to being their slave, getting what you want instead of accepting what others think you should be content with. These books are about you, not about the author. The only 'writer's voice' you will hear is the one that informs, entertains and encourages you. It's now time to write your own script and act out the drama of your own life, not ones that you previously thought had been chosen for you. Predestination is passe and karma is callow, right? If you feel that this can spur you to think, strategize and act, then follow the blog, buy the books and take action. Become your best, who you really want to be. Nobody else will do it for you.

About The Author

Introduction

We all have a dark side which we go out of our way to keep hidden. We usually keep the monster within well-hidden when we are trying to impress friends, lovers, colleagues and anybody else with whom we wish to get along. For most of us the monster within only makes brief appearances. For others the monster chooses not to hide at all – these people are fully paid up members of the Toxic Zodiac. So, who are they?

It’s time to meet the Toxic Twelve:

Aggressive Aries: Aggressive, selectively deaf and intolerant you’d fight with yourself if you could and in the absence of a suitable victim you will. Not only are you a bossy control freak, you’re jealous too just like fellow Mars ruled sign Scorpio.

Toxic Taurus: Self-indulgent, materialistic bore. Slow to move, taciturn and easily embarrassed, you tend to take forever to make a decision – a characteristic you share with fellow Venus ruled sign Libra. Unlike Libra you are extremely stubborn. You are also possessive (of people and objects), brooding and hate change with a passion.

Gossipy Gemini: A vicious gossip, your star sign is synonymous with cheating. Your inability to remain faithful is the stuff of legends. You are incapable of commitment due to the fact that you have the attention span of a gnat and cannot make your mind up as to what sort of a person you really are.

Crabby Cancer: At your worst you are a clingy, moody one person whingefest. Over-sensitive and overbearing you just won’t give your partner room to breathe will you? Unlike Gemini you have nerves of steel but you are just as manipulative. You are often totally self-absorbed which makes you almost as capable of being selfish as Me Me Me Aries and Look At Me Leo.

Lordly Leo: Wow the ego has landed! Stubborn, wilful and foul tempered you can be as much of a brat as an Aries when they are at their worst. You are just as self-centred too. Boastful beyond belief, your contempt for your fellow man (or woman) is breath-taking at times.

Vicious Virgo: The zodiac’s nit-picking, hypochondriac, you tend to be undemonstrative when it comes to giving praise and affection but you are very demanding when it comes to getting what you want from others. Nervous, worried, cranky and irritable, you give Cancer plenty of competition when it comes to being the most crabby member of the zodiac. Unlike Cancer you can be rather prudish.

Low Libra: Along with Leo you are the vainest of the Zodiac signs. Like Leo you think the world revolves around you and you get very sulky indeed if people don’t recognise that fact and act accordingly. In keeping with your high opinion of yourself, you are a world class flirt. You are also as nit-picking as any Virgo and as much of a gold digger as Capricorn at their worst. You are also mercenary and a shameless social climber.

Scathing Scorpio: Vengeful, vindictive and ruthless, everyone hides when you come round the corner. Little do they know that you’ve been listening to every word, working out how to use the information that you’ve gleaned to your best advantage. A sadistic soul, you show no mercy to anyone who crosses you.

Snarky Sagittarius: Hot-headed and argumentative, you are notorious for failing to look before you leap. Planning ahead is not your strong point and nor is committing to a course of action. You are too impatient to be moving to plan adequately, which means that you have a reputation for being a bit of a klutz. But that’s just you isn’t it? It’s not your fault if people are too stupid to recognise your talents. In fact you are more than happy to let others know just how stupid they are. Company politics is not your forte.

Cruel Capricorn: You are as critical and perfectionist as Virgo and even more status seeking. The zodiac’s social climber - it is obvious why your astrological symbol is a goat. You’d think that an ambitious sign like yours would believe that we make our own destiny but many of you have a tendency to be rather fatalistic and fearful. At your worst you allow your inner fears to dominate your decision-making, so do not rise as far as you would like to.

Arrogant Aquarius: One of the zodiac’s voyeurs, like Scorpio, you have the Scorpionic approach to privacy as well. It’s ok for you to know everyone else’s business but they’d better not try to find out anything about you, had they? They’d better not ask you to share your ideas either had they? Sharing ideas is not what you do is it? Your ideas are unique and you’ll only share them if doing so adds to your status as eccentric genius.

Intellectually arrogant and judgmental you are as supercilious and snarky as any Sagittarian at their worst. It’s second nature to you to point how inadequate everyone else’s efforts are and how unoriginal their thinking is. You’ll happily tell anyone who’ll listen how useless your hapless victims are.

Pity Party Pisces: And now for the final sign in our rogue’s gallery – pity party Pisces. Oh dear you are a wet blanket, aren’t you? Misery loves company and you are more than happy to invite misery in for a nice bottle of wine. In fact you love misery so much that you take on other people’s as well. People think that you’re gullible but you aren’t really, you just need an excuse to beat yourself up. Then you can luxuriate in an orgy of self-pity and self-recrimination.

By studying this you get to know your enemy and know yourself.

The twelve Zodiac signs are mapped onto Nine Toxic Types (Necrotic Narcissist, Black Cloud, Flagrant Fault Finder, Chronic Catastrophizer, Dream Destroyer, Volatile Volcano, Volatile Volcano and Meta-Toxic) plus the ten types of people most likely to become victims of Toxics.

The Toxic Zodiac also covers how easy the twelve Zodiac signs find it to get rid of a toxic person along with their likelihood of becoming victims of toxic behaviour or exhibiting it.

The Toxic Zodiac – Villains and Victims

Moon Sign

In astrology the Moon Sign represents the secret self, the instinctive responses, the imprinted emotional and habit patterns of each personality. For the most part these are kept firmly under wraps but that does not mean that they are insignificant in affecting the way each personality operates.

Moon sign behaviour is most visible in times of crisis or trauma, and when an individual is under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Any one of these is capable of knocking out the upper two levels of personality (the sun sign, which represents the ego drive and the ascendant, representing the projected personality) to reveal the secret self, hiding away beneath then. No wonder the Romans came up with the saying - In vino veritas, literally, ‘When drunk, the truth.’

For a man it represents his anima and what he looks for in a woman.

The Moon in a Water sign bestows a greater tendency to resort to emotional manipulation (and to be very good at it). The moon in a Fire sign indicates someone more likely to explode with rage and threaten. The Moon in an Earth sign makes for a judgemental, cold and hypercritical nature. It also makes for an irritable person. Moon in Air signs will talk about anything other than how the actually feel.

Mars Signs

The sign in which Mars resides in a person’s birth (natal) chart indicates how you will respond to sexual stimuli. It is directly linked to sex drive, the way in which you will pursue and treat your partner, your physicality and stamina and your need for self-assertion. Because Mars is so strongly linked with competitiveness, impulsiveness, assertiveness (and aggression) it has much to do with the projection of personality. The Mars position also indicates whether your energies are going to be largely physical (fire signs Aries, Leo, Sagittarius), material (earth signs Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn), mental (air signs Gemini, Libra, Aquarius), or emotional (water signs Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces).

It also indicates how selfish a person is likely to be and also how aggressive/confrontational they are likely to be. Mars in the Fire signs makes for volatile folk with volcanic tempers particularly if the feel disrespected (Leo), thwarted or made to wait (Aries) and restricted (Sagittarius). Fortunately their temper usually subsides pretty quickly.

Mars in Air sign people use words as weapons and they can certainly wound. Mars in Gemini sees red at what they see as stupidity (wilful or otherwise), Mars in Libra lets rip when the see injustice and Mars in Aquarius lambasts anybody who threatens their freedom.

Mars in Earth sign people stubborn and possessive. They will respond to a threat to their finances (Mars in Taurus), way of working (Mars in Virgo) or reputation (Mars in Capricorn) by stonewalling and cold withdrawal initially. Then, if necessary, they will take calculated retaliatory actions. They will keep taking these until satisfied with the outcome.

Mars in Water signs use emotional blackmail to get their way. While they do not go out of their way to provoke arguments (or fights) they will fight ‘dirty’ when feeling threatened. Mars in Cancer gets roused when their security and territory are threatened, Mars in Scorpio gets enraged when their privacy is threatened and Mars in Pisces gets defensive when they feel that they are being forced to do something they don’t want to. Mars in water sign people bear grudges for a long time, fight dirty and don’t give up until they’ve got their revenge.

Of all the Mars signs Mars in Scorpio is the most ruthless and vengeful when they feel that they have been wronged.

When considering entering into a relationship looking at a potential partner’s Mars sign (plus your own) comes in useful when looking to see how compatible you might be and also to see how a partner might pursue and treat you if they win your heart.

Venus Sign

None of us stays exactly the way we were on our wedding day, or our first date, or that wonderful day we first fell in love. This does not mean, however, that love withers and dies after those first, brief intense moments of excitement and sheer bliss. It does not have to be downhill from that moment you commit to each other. It is perfectly possible to have plenty of peak experiences in long-term relationships without cheating! That’s what happens when love grows.

There is a school of thought that subscribes to the theory that there are people who are incapable of love and marriage; in fact, some of us even believe it about ourselves. Not all of us were born with qualities like trust, respect, loyalty, honesty, openness, commitment and supportiveness. We might not have been lucky enough to learn how to develop those qualities from our parents. How could we if we never saw them relate to each other in that way? This is not to say that we can’t acquire those qualities for ourselves, if we love each other enough to put the effort in. There are plenty of books and gurus out there to help us. Our best mate may even give us a few tips.

What has this to do with astrology, you may ask? Well, there are some people who feel that there are zodiac signs incapable of lasting fidelity and devotion. They believe that certain astrological types are destined to be unfaithful. Not so, while some signs or aspects may find faithfulness to just one person difficult, it is by no means impossible if you are willing to change and grow. That can happen when someone is too good to lose or when repeated failed relationships begin to cost you dear.

The following aspects often make it challenging (but not impossible) to mature and grow in love. All this means is that you will have to work that bit harder to sustain long-term relationships. Fortunately astrology tells us where difficulties are likely to arise and, most importantly, holds the key to overcoming them. With this in mind let’s turn our attention to those challenging aspects and planets!

When Uranus conjoins, opposes or squares the love-and-marriage planet, Venus, in the natal chart, you are predisposed to getting bored in relationships. Then you can grow restless and look to someone else for excitement rather than staying put and injecting it into your daily lives together.

If you have any of these aspects, recognize such tendencies within yourself. Don't make promises or commitments on the spur of the moment. You really need to develop the emotional maturity needed to appreciate the deep and tranquil, but no less exciting, happiness that comes from a long relationship which goes from strength to strength as you learn more about each other. Look for a partner that will stand their ground and not succumb to your habitual use of childlike guile to get your way. Being charming is less than cute if you leave a trail of broken hearts in your wake!

Uranus in the natal 5th house of love or the 7th house of marriage may exhibit some of these same tendencies.

Venus conjunct, square or opposite Neptune is the hallmark of the hopeless romantic. These are the people who believe that, like Cinderella, they will leave happily ever after with their perfect partner. . While there are plenty of people of people who achieve this state of bliss, it does require a great deal of work, something, which surprises our hopeless romantic! If the relationship goes through a bad patch you may find yourself consumed with an irresistible urge to seek comfort in the arms of another until the same thing happens with this relationship. Also, this non-solution feels intrinsically wrong to you, because you sense that you are going against everything that love stands for, and you are right! Look for a partner who will love, respect and support you while not allowing you to become too divorced from reality. With this type of a partner you will be able to have the romantic love you seek and to feel rightly proud of the noble sacrifices that you make for love.

Those with Venus conjunct, square or opposite either the Moon or Mars are very emotional people. This is a double-edged sword and can be used to your advantage if you can channel all that emotional energy into improving your relationship rather than just emoting about it!

Those people with Venus conjunct, square or opposite either Saturn or Pluto frequently have deep-seated insecurities and if you have this aspect, you may be absolutely convinced that nobody will ever truly love you. You may need to put some work into remembering those times when people did love you and setting up an strong ‘anchor’ or ‘trigger’ to access those memories when insecurity threatens to destroy your relationships. Failure to do this may lead y to you becoming jealous and possessive with loved ones. To combat this tendency and to help you gain the security that you crave; tell your partner that you need reassurance and affection, and tell him or her why you do. When they understand that it comes from insecurity and not a desire to own them, most loving partners will respond exactly the way you dreamed they would.

If you love someone enough to improve yourself for them, while not ending up resenting them for ‘forcing’ you to make those changes, real love is by no means unattainable. To maximise your chances of success, you and your partner should read about your Venus signs below, and the signs on your 7th house cusps.

Mercury Signs

The placement of Mercury, the planet associated with the way we communicate and process information, affects the way we express ourselves and how we analyse and interpret information. Are we, for example, someone who thinks and communicates at lightning speed or are we someone who takes their time to respond to questions? Do we think in a linear and structured manner or are we more intuitive? Mercury also represents travel both mental and physical.

When it comes to relationships knowing you partner’s Mercury sign along with your own is a useful indicator of how similar your communication styles are likely to be. Is one of your talkative while the other appears to be more reserved? Does one of you ague forcefully while the other sits there in stony silence? Does one of you shoot from the hip while the other takes their time to respond? Does one of you always have a witty put down to hand while the other only comes up with a pithy response half an hour after the conversation has ended?

Rising Signs Or Just To Make Things More Complicated...

A person is most likely to act and appear like their Sun sign if their Ascendant (Rising) sign is the same as their Sun sign. In general, the Ascendant often describes half to two-thirds, of a person’s physical appearance, and the Sun sign, roughly one-third.

When people first meet you what they meet is your Ascendant or Rising sign, so for example if you’re a Leo and your ascendant sign is Capricorn you’ll look and act like a Capricorn until people get to know you better. Then Leo will make its presence felt and people will
