About this ebook

Maureen Joan Winnett’s The Butterfly Children is a collection of poetry that recalls the author’s time as a medium. This interesting collection explores various situations experienced by Maureen throughout her career. She takes time to explain the background to each beautifully-crafted poem, leaving readers with a full understanding of Maureen’s life as a medium.

The Butterfly Children formed an early part of a special stage in Maureen’s mediumship development and her poetry is used as a channel to express this. In particular, the book focuses on her spirit children and how they manifested themselves into Maureen’s life. Throughout the collection, readers will notice how Maureen connects her work to butterflies and rainbows as a way to share her stories. Maureen also hopes that her work will allow readers to find peace within themselves and experience another spiritual world.

The Butterfly Children will appeal to other healers and those who enjoy body, mind and spirituality books. In addition to this, the poetry can be used to help readers come to terms with bereavement, particularly with the loss of children.

To my children and all those beautiful Souls now in the Spirit realm; who through the gift of mediumship I was able to serve in communication and healing.

The Hand of Friendship to a Stranger

We met for just a brief while,

A word or two was passed.

Your face etched by the path,

    Of the life you’ve trodden.

The troubles and the traumas all reflected there,

But oh the eyes… the eyes were…

    Lit with a different light,

    Bright warm and… clear.

An emblem of a loving soul,

An emblem of one most dear.

And as we spoke, we shared so much,

    An understanding there…

Of what life is… and why it is…

Our cross so hard to bear.

And as you go through your treatment/experience,

I hope these words will help.

From the hand of friendship to a stranger,

    Upon this path of life.

Written by Maureen J. Winnett 1997

This little poem came to me very quickly one Thursday just before philosophy class. We had been asked by our teacher to prepare something, and just like in my old school days, I hadn’t even started the assignment or had anything prepared to give.

By chance that day, I had to slip into Kingsthorpe, where in passing through the newsagent’s doorway, of all places, I met a lovely couple I knew from church. I listened to their ordeal, and after wishing them both well, I returned home with thoughts of this encounter. The poem above was written shortly afterwards just before class.

Much later while I was busy working on the road as a Medium, I invariably bumped into this delightful couple. It was always early Monday morning just before I was setting off for three days of solid work. I also noticed how when we used to travel home from Paris for a weekend as a family, I nearly always met this same couple in and around Northampton town. Funny, eh?

    The Key

To the World that belongs to us,

A KEY has to be found.

To enter in and be apart,

You have to stop and learn the ART.

    Of pausing and standing STILL.

Till you feel quite at peace,

    To do GOD’s WILL.

For there is more to this life you know.

Worlds beyond this not too far to go.

The IMAGINATION is the KEY to it all.

That opens the door to the worlds far beyond.

The HUMAN MIND is a wonderful thing.

    Worlds to explore…

If you can just learn to open the door,

    And enter in.

(These few words came through one evening… Mo Winnett – January 1998)

Also it was written with my right hand and I’m very much a left-handed person.
