Chapter One- Truth
Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
I now understand the term sellout
, used negatively by most. It is the only term that comes to mind for the hope and peace I find in the Father these days. NO ONE knew He was always there waiting for me. Growing up, they called me the black sheep of the family
. I didn’t understand it at the time but God had a plan for this black sheep. Hiding me away, it seemed, until just the right moment.
I have searched and wrestled with His purpose and plans for decades. Knowing some people never find it, never understand their REAL purpose in Him. They find that thing that usually makes a good substitute, but not the actual fit. Substitute. What a good word to describe what we use to fill the heart within us for what should be a place for GOD. Where His light and hope should be shining out from us, we replace it with things… because we don’t understand that he has created so much more inside us.
When I write, the Lord often shows me pictures. As I am writing this, I see a man holding a black cinched bag, and within the bag is the man’s true heart. You have to picture the heart covered within the bag, with a black cloth. It covers his true heart with an indented shape(mold) of a another heart, (not the size or shape of his own) so as to completely block out any light and still give you a pocket for the things of the world. A euphemism for the enemy to say you don’t need the things of God.
The man proceeds down the street with his heart in his hand
, so to speak. He is searching. Searching for something that will fit in the shape of the indented heart inside the bag. Covering up the treasured heart, already in his bag, by whatever means necessary.
It is a trap, of course. There is nothing that will fit the indented shape. Some find things too small, that will lay inside the indented shape of the heart, but they are never satisfied. Some find things that are too large, but they are not made to carry the weight of it, and it eventually breaks them. Either way, they carry their true nature, and the fake, whatever that may be.
I can assure you that God never intends for this to happen. We are fed the lie daily, by the enemy, that we are not good enough. That our truest nature, great or small, is not what the world wants. We are then led by the enemy to the blind darkness most men face that do not follow Christ. At this point, we are afforded a choice. Our guide to the darkness has now left us alone. The bait taken, all he must do, is sit quietly and watch. It is then we learn of his ruthless intent to lure us away from one thing. God, in all Hs wisdom, and sacrifice, has written on our true hearts… HE LOVES US!
Sometimes it is apparent that we have relinquished our rights to the enemy, and chosen to go down this road. He has so eloquently and cunningly planned for us. Sometimes, as I said, we are trapped. The enemy uses any number of ways to get us to turn from the Father. The enemy’s hope is that you will become hopeless… that the black bag
you carry around, concealing the heart of the Father in us, will never see the light of day. That you will never understand, or know the true nature of the Father, to love us above all that the enemy has in store for us… now, and down the road.
God has asked me to write about His love for you… His eternal love for you! In the hopes that, through His eyes, you might see yourself in a different light. The enemy is eager to hold you accountable for your dilemma (the choice to lose your true heart for good). Never mind the fact that he deceived you down this road, and left you for dead, on the side of it.
Your life is precious to God and He loves every turn, quirk, and wrinkle. He holds you dear, as any mother would her child, and accepts you… for you! She knows that every inch of you is a part of herself. Birthing you, and bringing you to herself at the end of the day for rest. (Ps. 23.)
I want to encourage you that our lives are not forfeit with the Father, and yet, if we do not seek out the Father, we are forfeit already. Deep within us, we find we are bankrupt, and years of spiritual poverty crowd around us like long lines at the post office.
Some of us come to this truth early…some later in life. Either way, we come to the end of ourselves, and by extension, choose to stay in deception from mere apathy, until we are literally moved to seek out the peace of GOD. My hope is you will choose the latter.
Early in my life, I was given a choice. A choice to accept the actions of a deceived people, or to allow my spirit to rise up and listen… as God allowed a bit of discernment to filter through my heart. I believe God allowed me to see straight through their actions, to the heart and truth of the matter. I believed He showed me the compassion that’s in His heart for us, as all at once, my heart screamed out in one solid voice. "There has to be more to God than this… !" The thought was so complete in my heart, from that moment on, to 30 years later…I remember it like it was yesterday.
The answer to my question, and many who have the same thought, is OF COURSE, there is
…unequivocally!
The actions of the few spurred an unending search to who the Father really was in my life. What was His true nature for us, and how much compassion do I really deserve from the Father? What I found was that we are all children in His sight. All in need of revelation, and discernment. What I know undeniably, is that my Father loves me. He loves me! His compassion for my deceived eyes and heart, knows no bounds. His understanding and wisdom, He will share at the mere asking. His hope, He gives as freely, as He does His peace. This is just the beginning of the Father’s nature.
If you think you have run out of options, or chances, you are mistaken. The mere search for Him, ignites in the Father, a passion that compels Him to run to you. He sees you from afar (a distance, by the way, we put there, not him) and calls out to you, making for you a robe of adornment, and marking you with a love so deep, and so pure that everything in the spirit that sees you KNOWS you are His. How do I know this?
I know, as anyone who has been forgiven much would know… GRACE. John 4:29 says, Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
My mind wonders at this verse, and yet it wants to seek HIM, out of it. I "will", this verse to open up and divulge its secrets to me.
As I sift through what I know of the Father and His son, I think I see something emerging within the lines of the verse. I think many of us feel as though we are the sinner
described in this verse. And yet, I believe there is more. So, I put myself in this woman’s place.
I find that in my own discussions with God, He never points out the problems, more than He points to the solutions. We don’t know the conversation He had with this woman, only that Jesus told her all the things she ever did
. How revealing of the Father… not to point fingers at the sinner, but to reveal your true self to you.
Imagine with me for a moment, that the Father didn’t just say; let me tell you what you are doing wrong
, but let me, instead discuss what you were designed and created to do.
The Word says, Jesus told her "ALL the things she ever did" … (this was not a short conversation).
Let’s discuss ALL
for a moment. Some will say that Jesus wouldn’t have literally sat there and discussed ALL
with her, but wouldn’t He? Just taking some of the conversations I have had with Him, I know he would have! I think He saved it up, much like a child who waits all day to tell you what they discovered. He brought to her a picture of her life… SHE KNEW, she had painted for herself. Then Jesus, knowing the Father’s heart where she was concerned, told her ALL.
ALL the times she was scared. ALL the times she prayed when she wasn’t sure it would work. ALL the times the Father collected her tears after she had done something wrong. ALL the times they beat her, humbled her, and humiliated her. ALL the times GOD saw HER, wrote on her heart. ALL the times He didn’t give up on her. ALL the times she kept believing, when she wasn’t sure. ALL the times God spoke into her heart and she wasn’t sure it was Him. In my opinion, that’s what changed her heart. That’s what cemented into her heart, that this had to be the Christ
. He knew it ALL!
NO ONE knows you like the Father. You are always before Him. Never forgotten. Never Unknown. You ask me how I know… MY Father tells me ALL
about myself. He will never leave you, nor forsake you. He is with you until the end of time. Surely, Goodness and Mercy, will follow you all the days of your life. Over and over, the Father
