Thank You
I’d like to start by thanking God! Without him nothing is possible. To Lauryn, you were my reason for leaving. Your birth made me realize how much more I still had to live for. To my parents, mommy and daddy, I appreciate your undying support. Even when I made you all mad, you stayed the course with me and never gave up. To my siblings; Janice, Sophia, Tina, Ashley, Jonathan, Megan, and ‘Pre’ you all have been through my ups and downs with me. I appreciate the advice, love and support through it all. Shantel, unlike cliches, you’re one of the few best friends I have, not blood related! Our relationship is so special because our minds are so alike it’s a little scary that we’re not related. Brandon, I love you, but you know that! Jade Price and Shanel Caleb the both of you have read and re-read with me giving me your ‘expertise’ advice (criticizing, lol). S.H.I.N.E may you continue to help women all over. Thank you for reminding me that I too have a light! Cheryl Barnett, all the love and support you’ve been giving me has been wonderful. Dianne-Kay Diaz, thank you, words can’t express my gratitude for it all. Kiera and Dominik Rawls you both have posted and shared and helped me get the word out about my masterpiece. Kay Thompson you came in and gave me such a powerful reminder! To anyone I forgot to mention, I am truly thankful for whatever you brought to the table helping this book come to fruition.
To the readers, this story is for you to take from it what you will and use it to propel you to become the best that you can be. Never let ANYONE tell you that you can’t and keep moving forward.

Our Love Story
Love can be the best feeling. It can make you feel on top of the world right, yeah, not for me. For me, I felt like love picked me up put me on top of the world and then threw me right off the edge into nothing. The feelings of happiness somehow got replaced with something less. It’s normal for the giddiness to fade, but mine disappeared altogether. Instead, my feelings were replaced with something I can’t even describe. It was not an experience anyone would want, whether in love or not.
Lisa sat at her desk and opened the notebook. She took out her pen and sighed journal I got a story for you today. I haven’t written in forever. I’ve been so, caught up with that fool Matthew!
She began to write.
Journal,
As the radio personality at 109 Jammin I didn’t think much about him at first. I met guys all the time and to me this was just another guy. I knew the routine. He’d probably just try to sleep with me or worst, get close just because he wanted a handout. As the day went on and we continued to cross paths, I realized maybe I was wrong. Either way I didn’t push anything. I wanted him to approach me.
My hazel eyes are as deep as the ocean and my caramel skin makes me culturally ambiguous. When Matthew first met me he didn’t have a clue what I was. All he saw was this beautiful girl shoveling dirt, and he knew he had to have me! We met at a volunteer program and he did not think I belonged there at all. To him a girl as beautiful as me belonged in a movie or on a magazine. I was not supposed to be shoveling dirt at a charity home. He watched me dig for almost twenty minutes before he finally approached me and said a simple hello.
I thought Matthew was just as handsome as he thought I was beautiful. I saw him before he even noticed me. I watched him in the kitchen the morning we got to the site. There was a makeshift kitchen setup for volunteers. Breakfast and lunch was to be provided for us and Matthew was one of the chefs. He could throw down in
