About this ebook
Dr Elizabeth Pimms has a new puzzle. What is the story behind the tiny skeletons discovered on a Guatemalan island? And how do they relate to an ancient Mayan queen? The bones, along with other remains, are a gift for Elizabeth. But soon the giver reveals his true nature. An enraged colleague then questions Elizabeth’s family history. Elizabeth seeks DNA evidence to put all skeletons to rest.A pregnant enemy, a crystal skull, a New York foodie, and an intruder in Elizabeth’s phrenic library variously aid or interrupt Elizabeth’s attempts to solve mysteries both ancient and personal. With archaeological intrigue, forensic insight and cosy comfort, Mayan Mendacity takes readers back into the world of Dr Pimms, Intermillennial Sleuth. Really cold cases.
L.J.M. Owen
Dr L.J.M. Owen escapes dark and shadowy days as a public servant by exploring the comparatively lighter side of life: murder, mystery and forgotten women's history. Like many bookworms, the best parts of her childhood were spent in the story worlds created by others. A bad day saw her escape under the covers, with a torch and an orange, to faraway lands where mysteries were solved, hard work was rewarded, and bad guys got their comeuppance. As an adult she decided to create another place for us all to run away to.

Reviews for Mayan Mendacity

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I received this book for an honest review. Thank you!I like the artistic cover which gave me an impression it's a book between middle age and teenagers, however, although the book falls into teenage section I would group it as contemporary adult fiction. Mayan Mendacity is a second book of Dr.Pimms, which I wasn't aware at the time of selecting the book, however, it didn't impact my reading and I enjoyed it. This is debut idea with archaeology's, DNA'S twist and drama from today's story plot. The book is written in two time episodes, the one takes place nowadays and another one in Mayan ruling time. This is a mystery fiction with little detective elements, where main character Elizabeth finds her life falling into pieces after a cheating boyfriend and facing daily problem solving with colleagues which leads more than just a conflict, she is also determined to achieve the voluntarily academically high value task she was given before her life collapsed and this is where the fun part of the book comes up. Elisabeth has analytical and planning personality where she applies her knowledge to the best point. This is really interesting, it was a new plot line to very much of the details. It was also humorous at the time.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I enjoyed this very cold case mystery. I might add more of Owen's work to Mt. TBR.
