    The Book of Stereotypes

The man came back into the library shaking his head.  He looked at Raziel who was still sitting behind his desk and then to the Book of Stereotypes that was still open.

The pages of the book appeared to be increasing by the minute.

I told you it was hopeless, the man said throwing up his hands.  The pages are growing.  I don’t hear any bells ringing so no stereotypes are being destroyed! You’ve shown me the couple whose love should be destroying some of the stereotypes, but it’s getting worse.

Raziel stood up and walked down from the podium where he was seated.

Have a little faith.  It’s always darkest before dawn.

The man looked unconvinced.  He walked over to the book and stared at it.  He watched as it thickened a bit.  Before he could comment, the tinkling of the bell sounded again.

He watched as Raziel raised his hands as he’d done before lifting up a handful of pages which instantly disappeared leaving sparkles in their place.

Love is happening,  Raziel stated looking at him.

But will it prevail, the man responded skeptically.

    Raziel smiled.

    Come see.

    Chapter 1

Men are more sexual than women.  Men want a variety of partners while women push for a committed relationship and marriage. – Book of Stereotypes.

    ––––––––

Matheson followed VaLysia in his car as she drove Mavis home after the birthday dinner. Things had gone well and even his father seemed to have accepted the inevitable union between his son and his former housekeeper’s grandchild.  None of it mattered to him:  her being black, him being white, not his wealth or social status.  He knew in his heart that she was the only woman for him.

Still Matheson wasn’t sure that VaLysia was convinced that they should be married quickly.  Well, he was going to convince her.  He knew that he couldn’t push her too hard, because she would push back.  No, he had to tread carefully.

He followed as Val turned into Mavis’ senior complex and pulled behind her as she parked.  She got out of the car and came over to him and he rolled down the window.

I’m going to walk Grandma up to her apartment.

No need, Mavis said walking up behind her.  I’m fine.

She grinned at Matheson as she leaned in his open window.  Don’t keep her out too late.

Matheson smiled back at her.  I won’t hold her hostage.  I promise.

He watched as Val took her grandmother’s arm and led her to the door.  He could hear Mavis protesting, but Val led her to the door anyway and walked with her inside the complex. He realized that he was a little tired even though he had only worked a half day, which surprised him. He leaned back and closed his eyes while he waited for Val.

Emily, Matheson’s mother shut the door and breathed a sigh of relief. The dinner she had given to honor Mavis, Val’s grandmother was a wonderful success! She clapped her hands together and walked through the house which was now quiet. She looked around the kitchen and noticed two brown bags that she had packed for Matheson and VaLysia.  She sighed and figured that they’d return for them later.

Gregory had left earlier to go to the homeless shelter to drop off the leftover food from dinner. She didn’t want anything to be wasted and she was happy about how the evening had turned out.  She thought about putting the bags in the refrigerator, but quickly forgot that thought as her mind went back over the evening's activities.

She had observed her son and VaLysia that evening and she knew that they were definitely in love.  She finally felt that she and Mavis were a real family now! She walked out of the kitchen and headed upstairs to her bedroom to wait for Gregory to return.

She was glad that Gregory appeared to have accepted the fact that VaLysia was their son's choice.  Matheson had been so reluctant about dating and she had often wondered what had been holding him back. He wouldn't tell her, of course, but she felt that something must have happened that he hadn’t shared, just like the high blood pressure issue. She knew that he had been working a lot of hours and had told him countless times to slow down. She felt that now that she and VaLysia had talked, that Val would be on Matheson to take care of himself.

Emily looked in the bedroom mirror at her reflection. She noticed a few more lines around her eyes. Gregory still looked the same as he always had except for a few gray hairs. She quickly walked in the bathroom to take her shower and prepare for bed.

She heard footsteps as she exited the bathroom and knew that Gregory was back.  She watched as he walked in the bedroom and threw his keys on the dresser.

All done, he said sitting on the bed.

Emily walked over to her vanity and sat down watching him in the mirror as she brushed her hair. She felt warm even after the cool shower and felt her nipples harden as thoughts of making love with her husband invaded her mind. She had been the one approaching him lately and she could not remember the last time he had initiated sex.

Tonight was a success, she proclaimed, still watching his reflection. Maybe she didn't give him enough time to approach her. After all, she knew that she was the impatient one and Gregory tended to be a bit too leisurely and slow at times for her taste.

Yeah, I guess, he mumbled, taking off his shoes. Mavis was happy, so I know you’re happy.

She watched as he stripped naked and picked up his robe. She tried to think of something to distract herself from her thoughts of sex, but nothing seemed to work.

She sat on the bed and waited. Maybe she would wait and let him approach her. The ache between her thighs was suggesting otherwise as she sat there debating what to do.

He walked into the room naked as the day he was born, drying his hair and her eyes roamed over him. To her it appeared that he never seemed to want her as much as she wanted him. She wondered sometimes if he was tiring of her. He was after all five years younger than she was and she felt that he should want sex more often.  Could he be tired of having sex with her?  The thought of that made her sick. She didn't know what she'd do if he didn't want her anymore. She had dedicated her whole life to Gregory.

She knew that he hadn't been happy about Matheson and VaLysia, saying that he wanted better for his only son. She regretted not being able to give him more babies. Perhaps he would have been more accepting of the relationship if she had given him other children, but she wasn’t sure.

She got up and walked around the bed and faced him. She pushed herself between his legs and he stared up at her surprised.

What's wrong Emily, you look upset, he observed.

Gregory, I'm worried...about us, she confessed.

What about us? I thought we were fine, he replied.  The party was a success, Mavis was happy and I was well behaved.  What more do you want?

He looked up at her and quirked his brow.  Emily backed up a bit.

Do you still...desire me? I need you to be honest with me, Emily whispered fighting the tears, but they spilled over and ran down her face.

Gregory stared up at her. What brought this on? Didn't I do as you asked? You just said that the party was a success, and it was. Mavis had a wonderful birthday. Why are you crying? What is this about?

She sat on the bed beside him hanging her head.  Yes, the party had been a success, but at what cost to their relationship?

I know, I know. The party was a great success just like I wanted.  Sometimes I push too hard to get my way and I wonder if you resent it. I don't want you going through the motions with me, Gregory. Tonight when Mavis was talking I realized just how many years it's been that I've loved you. I recalled that for the last six months all of the sexual advances have been from my end. You go along with it...and now I wonder if you are just doing it to shut me up.

Gregory put his arms around her and pulled her closer.

Woman, you're crazy as a loon! Did I ever tell you that? he teased.

Plenty of times she sniffed, dabbing at the tears with her back of her hand.

I love you, Emily. Of course I still want you. There's no one else for me. You're so aggressive most of the time, that I don't have the chance to be the aggressor, that's all, he reassured her.

She sniffed in response and quickly grabbed a tissue off the night stand.

I remember the first time we made love, he whispered.

It was on our honeymoon, she responded, still sniffing.

I was scared to death, not knowing what to expect from you after you made that declaration about fulfilling all of my sexual fantasies. I was only nineteen. I had only been with one girl before you and I didn't have many fantasies outside the arena of basic man on top sex. I was worried that I would disappoint you, even if you were a virgin. I had already been told that I wasn't...overly endowed, and the fact that I was a virgin and inexperienced at the time didn't sit too well with the young lady.

Emily looked at him and smiled.  She laid her head on his shoulder.

I remember after you told me that you didn't think you were that endowed and I went and got a measuring tape...on our wedding night no less.

They both laughed at the memory.

I remember, and you informed me that your book told you that the average size of a man's penis was six to seven inches. Gregory chuckled And I barely made six inches, proving what I had been told and that left me feeling very inadequate.

She was a total slut for saying such a thing to you, Emily snapped. I thought you had an impressive looking penis and told you so, remember? It looked so much better than the drawings in my book.

She reached over and touched his face. It feels incredible to me. It does the job and I like the way it feels and tastes. I thought it was a magnificent penis myself!

Gregory kissed her and then pulled back, staring in her eyes. You always have a way of making me feel like I'm the best in the world, even though I'm sure I'm not. I love you for that.

You are the best as far as I'm concerned, Emily said looking down at her hands that were folded in her lap. It's mine. It would kill me if you gave it to someone else...I know men do stray from time to time, but I don't want to think about that.

Gregory turned her face towards his. On my grandmother's grave...I've never strayed, he replied honestly.

Emily smiled in relief. I've always tried my best to do whatever I could to please you. She lowered her head. I realized today when I was watching Matheson and how he looked at VaLysia that you used to look at me like that; I guess it's too much to hope for.

Gregory laughed. Matheson is horny as hell and the girl’s a virgin. I looked at you like that when you wore that see through blouse on our third date! Remember you wanted to prove your womanhood. God, I was hard all night watching your breasts jiggle.

Emily giggled. I remember when you first tried to penetrate me, it hurt like hell and you kept apologizing through the whole encounter.

I was a bumbling idiot, Gregory agreed.

You made up for it though, Emily replied. I remember you took the book on our wedding night and read it after I fell asleep.

Yes, it gave some step by step suggestions on oral stimulation. I was fascinated, he replied. That was new for me...and the thought of receiving it, well it was very inspirational.

    Inspirational?

Yes, I thought that if I got that right, you'd return the favor, he said laughing.

I remember that after our first time, which lasted only a minute I think, she giggled again. Then I fell asleep, but when I woke up to you kissing my thighs. Needless to say, I forgot about the soreness from our first time pretty quickly. You were very, very good. I was surprised and pleased with your efforts.

He looked at her. That's because I liked doing it more than I thought I would.

She looked at him sideways. You haven't done it in a while.

He laughed again. Are you throwing me hints? As I can recall, you've been running the show and I've just been coming along for the ride.

I want you to run the show tonight, she insisted, looking at him.

He pushed her back on the bed knowing that she liked it a bit rough at times.

    Gladly!

    ––––––––

Matheson and VaLysia walked back into his parent’s house to get the food that they’d left behind.  Matheson quickly walked into the kitchen with Val on his heels.

He noticed that the food wasn’t on the counter and opened the refrigerator.

Here it is he said handing it to her.  I need to run up to my old room to get my overnight bag.

I told you to put it in the car before dinner.  Val reminded him as she followed him through the darkened hallway and up the steps.  Just then they heard a piercing shout of ‘O my God, Gregory’ from down the hall followed by a loud shriek.

Matheson quickly hurried to his room and grabbed the bag and ran back down the steps with Val following closely.  He hurriedly put the alarm back on and Val raced him to the car, laughing out loud.

Well that was embarrassing, he admitted, quickly pulling off.

I'm glad that they are still going at it, Val replied. I have something to look forward to in my old age.

Matheson grinned. I guess you're right.

When they arrived at his apartment, Val watched as Matheson threw his keys on the table by the front door.  Her heart was beating hard in her chest and her hands felt a bit clammy.  He’d asked her to marry him, insisted on it in fact.  She was still trying to accept the fact that this beautiful man wanted her tied to him for the rest of his life.  She knew that he wanted to take their relationship to the next level now that he’d proposed and she rubbed her palms against the front of her pants to try to still her shaking hands.

He turned to her, his azure eyes half closed and reached for her hand, pulling her to him.

Why don't you stay with me tonight, he suggested smiling.

Will you make me scream like your Mama, Val joked, trying to sound casual but felt that she’d failed miserably.

I'll certainly try, he whispered, kissing her ear.

They walked into his bedroom and Val took several deep breaths.  Was this how all virgins felt, a bit nervous and afraid?  He released her hand and walked over to the bed and sat down while she stopped halfway into the room unable to move any further.

He had declared his love for her, played a song for her and asked her to marry him. She still couldn't believe it. She hadn't told her grandmother about the engagement since tonight had been Mavis’ celebration and Val hadn’t wanted to take the focus off that.  She hadn’t the heart to refuse Matheson outright, but she didn’t want to rush into marriage either.

He extended his hand towards her as she stood rooted on the spot where she was standing, and she quickly opened her purse, pulling out a sheet of paper.

    Here. Read this.

What's this? he asked taking it from her.

The report I got from the doctor. Do you have yours?  She knew that this delaying tactic would only last for a moment, but she mentally convinced herself that she needed time to gather her thoughts.

She watched as he reached into the drawer of the night stand beside his bed and pulled out an envelope. She took it and scanned the contents and then looked up from the paper to find him watching her.

    Satisfied?

I guess, she said folding it back up and handing it to him.

He took her trembling hand and kissed it.

Do you realize that I’ve been thinking about this night, how much I wanted to make love to you, to make you mine for weeks now?

Val’s mouth was dry and she stood there not saying anything.

    Are you afraid?

    A little.

Of me?  he teased pulling her closer.  Am I the big bad wolf?

    Are you?

He stared at her and then began kissing her palm and moved to her wrist, his tongue flicking, seeking a sensitive spot.  He looked up as if considering her question.

I am, he whispered.  I plan to eat you up.

Val’s stomach jumped at his declaration.

Do you realize that you are mine, that you lured me in with your tart words and your sweet smell in my parent’s music room?  You captured my attention with that first sweet kiss where you tasted like wine and heaven and your lips so plump and juicy drugged my senses.

Matheson... she groaned as he pulled her down on the bed beside him. It’s just that things are moving so fast.  It all seems like a dream.

If it is a dream, then let’s not wake up, he said kissing her neck, biting the spot and then licking it.

She could feel him lowing the zipper on the back of her dress and she felt his fingers tremble a bit.  It was at that point that she realized that she wasn’t the only nervous one and somehow that calmed her.  She pulled back and looked into his eyes.

I know that I’m a bit shaky because it’s my first time...

She didn’t have to explain because she could tell by the look in his eyes that he understood her question.

I want so much to make this good for you, he whispered.  I want to make your body sing.  I want to be the one to show you what it’s like to be loved physically, so much that you will never leave me...never forget me...us...this.

He began kissing her neck and then her cheek after each word as if each kiss was a way of bonding her to him forever, and it was working because she’d never dreamed that a man like Matheson Hendricks would want her for life.

He pulled the dress from her shoulders still kissing his way over her body.

I could kiss you all night...taste your skin, get drunk off your smell...

He was talking nonsense now, but she didn’t care.  He’d unhooked her bra and her dress somehow was around her ankles.  She kicked it off and saw him toss her bra over his shoulder.

No fair, she complained.  I’m nearly naked and you’re still dressed.

Life isn’t fair, he murmured, pulling off her panties and tossing them like he’d done with her bra.

He lifted her leg and kissed her ankle.

Mine, all mine, he said to no one in particular as
