A Navy SEAL To Protect The Pianist - Summer Love

Prologue

He smiled at his victim when she dropped dead to the ground. He had done it again and nobody would never know...

The plush and sophisticated Kendall Avenue was rudely awakened in the early hours of the morning with police car sirens blaring as they raced down the road toward the alley at the end of the road. Lucy Mc Adams had had a late night at her last piano recital at the Hall of Music and she sat up in bed rubbing her eyes and trying to adjust to the glow of the night lamp. What on earth is all this noise about, said Lucy to herself as she threw back the coverlet and got out of bed. Padding barefoot to the window she drew the curtains and was shocked to see police cars parked on either side of the road, as policemen ran toward the alley.

Kendall Avenue had never been disturbed like this in the early hours of the morning and Lucy knew that something serious must have happened. She three on her overcoat and opened the door of her apartment. Mr. and Mrs. Spencer, Lucy’s immediate neighbours were already outside in the corridor of their apartment complex talking to the other residents.

What has happened? asked Lucy coming over to the little group. There’s been a case of homicide and the body of a woman was found dumped in the alley, said Mr. Spencer.  Lucy’s hand flew to her mouth. Oh dear me, when could this have happened? asked Lucy. According to Mc Gregor, the local police sergeant the killing could have happened anytime between nine and ten last night, said Mr. Spencer. Lucy’s eyes grew wide. But I passed the alley on my way after a late night performance around that time, said Lucy. Mrs. Spencer looked at Lucy and she saw concern written all over the old lady’s face. Lucy I think you should take more care of yourself, dear, said Mrs. Spencer.  Everyone else nodded.

Lucy nodded and walked back to her apartment. As she closed the door behind her, she jumped when her mobile started ringing. Lucy how are you darling? asked her father. Oh Dad did you hear the news so soon? asked Lucy. Yes I did and your Mom and I were very worried as the news mentioned Kendall Avenue Alley, said Dallas Mc Adam. Lucy nodded. You need to be more careful Lucy, said her father. The spoke for a while and then Dallas Mc Adams hung up.

Lucy walked to the television and switched it on. The face of the lady which appeared on the screen made Lucy take about three steps back. Oh dear isn’t that Mrs. Darlington who lives at Watermark Apartments? she said to herself as she groped the sofa for support. It was Mrs. Darlington who had been murdered and left in the alley, she said softly to herself her who body shaking in fear.

What of security in Kendall Avenue now? Thought Lucy as her mind raced to the many nights she had driven alone after musical performances. Shuddering she switched off the television and walked into the kitchen to prepare a strong cup of tea.
