Jaxon: Carson Manor
()
About this ebook
Before Jax and Skye, there was just Jax.
He thought he was done with love for good when his fiancé Koby slept with his best friend, but then he arrived at Carson Manor where everything changed.
Jax had to keep his distance from Skye, the woman he fell in love with the instant he spotted her because he didn't want to bring her into his supernatural world. He wouldn't be able to live with himself if something ever happened to her.
The days and nights were torture, but he pressed on, well he did until he couldn't take the distance for one moment longer.

Dedication
To my babies, thank you for putting up with a sleep deprived mother & to my friends and family, thank you for your patience. Thank you for still loving me even when I was stuck in my bubble for days at a time. And for still loving me when I wouldn’t answer my phone as I worked. And most importantly, I want to throw out a huge thank you to, Eminem, Slim Shady, Marshall Mathers, for the album Recovery. It helped to push me forward when I wasn’t sure if I could continue.
I also want to thank a few friends. Sarah Banks for editing my work and for polishing it so that it didn’t suck. Thank you!
Chapter 1
Jaxon
The first few years of being a vampire were a huge pain in my ass. Never did I want to be the freak I was, but there wasn’t much I could do about that. I was a vampire trying to live a normal existence.
It took me so long to get used to being the new me. Over the years I’d grown stronger, both in mind and in body. I’d had to watch as my younger sister was raped and killed. I couldn’t do shit to help her thanks to the venom that was racing through my veins, incapacitating me. I couldn’t even reach my hand out to her.
For so long, I blamed myself for her death. She was so young and so full of life. She never deserved to be touched in that manner. She didn’t deserve to die in that manner. Eventually, Albie and Phillip managed to get me under control. The moment I woke from the turn, I began punishing myself. So many ways, I tried to kill myself. I refused to believe the vampires around me when they told me that it was impossible to commit suicide, but my god, did I try.
Day after day, night after night I’d snort and shoot up every drug imaginable and wash it down with whatever alcohol I could get my hands on, but I would always wake up the next day.
Finally, after Albie and I beat the living shit out of each other one night, I realized that my mission would never be accomplished and that I should find a way to love myself again.
Thank fuck, for Albie, he got me through and showed me that I could, in fact, go on and live a somewhat normal existence.
For two decades, I, along with Al, grew an amazing financial portfolio. We would buy run down properties and use our vampire speed to get it done in a hurry and flip it for a huge profit.

While attending a vampire council meeting one night in Edmonton, Canada, some fifty years ago, I met a vamp by the name Koby. Let me tell you, the girl was smoking hot, with her long blond hair and killer curves. At first, I was intimidated, because she owned the room, and she wasn’t backwards in coming forward.
That first night together was wild. She taught me a few things in the bedroom. For years, I thought I loved her. I pushed aside any feeling I would have when I thought she was just using me. Sure, Koby loved money, but I was stupid. Stupid and in love.
Well, I thought I was at least. The moment I walked in on Chris and Koby having sex, in my bed, I didn’t utter a word. I turned on my heels, walked out the door and I didn’t stop until I was in my car, driving away. So, you and Koby are done for good?
Al asked as we were seated on the sofa in the hotel room I’d moved into.
After taking a sip of scotch, I told him, Yes. Deep down I knew she was up to something. Hell, I should have given her the boot when she didn’t agree to marry me until I’d shown her the ring. You were right about her all along. I’m sorry I didn’t listen to you, you have known me since the beginning. Never again will I push you to the side. Forgive me?
I asked. Hell, he didn’t have to forgive me at all. I’d been a moron.
He tried again and again to help me realize that there was something wrong with my relationship and what did I do? I moved him into the guesthouse because the woman I ‘loved’ didn’t like him. Now I see that she didn’t like him because she knew he saw right through her.
There’s nothing to forgive. Your penis was thinking for you,
he shrugs. What are you going to do now?
he then took a sip from his own glass.
Sell the mansion. Luckily for me, I never put her name on the title. Never again will I even think of marriage. I’ll never date again either.
I shook my head. Never have I acted as stupid as I have these last couple of years.
Al laughed, It’s so much easier. I love being single. Not since Jacqui, have I bothered with a woman for more than a night. Relationships are useless. The beginning is always fun, but then they bitch at you day after day. They can’t do that if you get rid of them as soon as possible.
Bingo. From now on, I’ll take your advice. Never again will I stick to one woman. I’m done.
Amen to that.
He held up his glass and I clink mine against his.

By the time Lila moved in with us a few years later, Al and I pulled away from our duties with the Vampire council and opted to move to a small town in Mississippi.
Just as I had acted when I was freshly turned, Lila had been acting out too. No matter how many times I tried to explain to her that she could not commit suicide because our bodies weren’t made that way, she still continued to try.
One night, when we were staying at Phillip’s mansion, I found Lila strung out frothing at the mouth on the front steps. I took her to my quarters and locked her in. For two days I didn’t leave her side. I cleaned up her vomit, and I forced blood down her throat. Finally, she calmed down enough to see reason.
I’m so sorry, Jax,
she cried in my arms.
Everything will be okay. We can go back to our house and you can start anew. No matter what happens, I will always be there for you and so will Al. I know that things seem bleak. Right now, but I’ve been where you are now. Never would I have been able to see any positive future in the early days of being turned. But there is a bright future waiting for you,
I assured her.
Really,
she asked, she turned her tear streaked face up to me.
Really. Let’s get you cleaned up and then we can take you back out to Mississippi, where you can start your new life.
Deep down, I knew she’d be more than okay.

Lila took the bull by the horns and she threw herself into her new life. She enrolled in college and because I didn’t want her to be alone, I also enrolled in a few classes. Just so that if something were to happen, I would be there with her to disarm the situation.
Thankfully, nothing too sinister happened. Lila pushed through one day at a time and she continued to blossom. When I knew she could be trusted to be alone, I agreed to go to a vampire council meeting that was to be hosted in Edmonton, Canada.
Before leaving Koby, I was in charge of training Phillip’s security. The men that protected him on a daily basis, the men that make sure he survives to live another day.
After I had packed my cases, I went to the kitchen of our home and made a coffee. It had been a tiring few days, and before leaving, I wanted to sit back and relax.
As I read the morning paper while seated at the dining table, Lila came strolling in, wearing a knee length black dress, looking adorable with her Pixie cut.
She pulled out a chair and took the seat opposite me. Placing the paper down on the table, I asked, You’re sure you will be okay while I’m gone?
If she wasn’t one hundred percent okay with me going, then I wouldn’t go at all.
Yes, I’m sure. Thanks to you, I feel normal again. You have nothing to worry about. Al is staying behind and you will only be gone a few days. I promise you that if I have any urges or I begin to feel uneasy, I’ll stick to staying in and I will also annoy the crap out of Al until you get home,
she smiled.
Okay. We’ll I’m heading off soon, my flight leaves in a couple of hours. I’ll call you when I get there.
"Okay, I’m going out.
