About this ebook

After surviving a plane crash on a Colorado mountaintop in a blizzard, stumbling into a cave and falling ill, Leslie wakes up to discover she has no clue who she is, where she is, or the identity of the gorgeous man who's caring for her. Vague, shadowy, disjointed pictures of being fed a vile potion by an evil witch, swimming in the rivers of the Amazon on a muggy, scorching day and sleeping beside a beautiful white wolf drift through her head...but surely those are all crazy dreams induced by a fevered mind, right? Stranded in a dangerous winter wonderland, her only choice is to ride out the winter months with her breathtaking mystery roommate. But, as long as there’s coffee, what's the worst that could happen?
Caution: Contains some descriptive conversations about memories of past abuse. Could be disturbing to some readers. No abuse takes place between the hero and heroine. Stand alone novel with a happy ending.
'****' indicates a switch in point of view character, to avoid confusion

I am an author of mostly erotica/erotic romance with a bit of scifi and sweet romance thrown in. I have visited or lived in each of the 48 continental United States at one time or another. Hawaii and Alaska are on my list of places to see. I've been to Canada and one day plan to tour Mexico as well. I've worked as a taxi driver, an exotic dancer/waitress, a dump truck driver, a storage facility manager and a traveling carnival worker. I love writing stories more than anything (other than my fabulous grandson (: ) and hope to one day support myself with my stories. I live in Louisiana with my boyfriend, two grown kids, an awesome grandson, and several spoiled cats. I truly believe you can do anything you set your mind to.

Stranded With The Alpha - Cindy Larie

    CHAPTER ONE

A commotion at the front of the plane caught my attention and I was grateful for the distraction. I was appreciative of anything that would take my thoughts—and eyes—off of the terrain whizzing by so close to the belly of the shaky craft. Now that we were in the air, I remembered all the reasons I never flew from regional airports or used small hopper planes. The shaking and dips were magnified, with every wind gust seeming to announce hey Leslie, you’re way up in the air in a motorized tin can that could crash at any moment.

Desperate, I tuned in to the hushed conversation a few rows in front of me in time to hear, That man up there with the stewardess has a gun. I just saw him flashing it at her. Apparently, he wants to continue to Denver, and the pilot wants to turn around. Turn around? I leaned closer. We couldn’t turn around. I had a teaching interview scheduled for Langley Academy. If I wasn’t there, I’d lose the job for sure.

Before I could hear more, a shot rang out and an alarm blared as oxygen masks dropped to dangle in front of our faces like malformed jellyfish on strings. The bullet had pierced the shell of the plane. Not good. Over the whistling of air escaping the cabin and the shrieks of terrified passengers, I heard, I said the plane will not be turning back. I don’t give a rat’s ass how hard it’s snowing up ahead, or how low cloud cover is. I have a car waiting for me at the airport in Denver. My mother is dying, and I promised her I would be there before she took her last breath. One way or another, I will keep that promise or die trying.

The pilot says the weather is too bad. There’s a blizzard up ahead. We can’t go over it or around it and we’d be insane to attempt to fly through it. If ice builds up on the wings, we’ll go down. Everyone could die. There’s more than just you to consider. Sir, please—

I’ll handle this. A clean shaven older man with silver starting to pepper his short cropped dark hair crept up the isle, gun out and aimed toward the gunman. Son, I am a U.S. Marshall. Put the weapon down. We can settle this peacefully. Don’t make me shoot you.

You don’t understand, the other man whined, refusing to lower his gun, I have to be at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora as fast as I can get there. The doctors say my mother doesn’t have much longer to live. If this plane turns back, I won’t make it in time. I’m all she’s got.

And if it doesn’t turn back, chances are good that none of us will make it. You won’t do your mom much good dead. Just give me the gun and sit down and we’ll forget the whole thing ever happened. Come on, son…think. Use your head. Your mother has lived her life but you still have yours ahead of you. Don’t throw it away.

I thought he was going to listen. He almost certainly would have if the copilot hadn’t panicked and chose that moment to rush him. But he did. In rapid succession I heard a shout from the Marshall and two shots—one from him and another from the front of the plane. Then, ears ringing, I felt my stomach attempt to leave through my spine as the entire aircraft dropped into an uncontrolled dive and someone screamed that the pilot and copilot had both been shot. No one was flying the plane; there was utter pandemonium as the other passengers digested the news.

An undetermined amount of time later, I opened my eyes. My first thoughts were to wonder why I felt like I’d been worked over with a sock full of pennies. Even my hair hurt. And I was so cold. Why was it so cold? Mustering all of my courage, I opened my eyes and looked around…or tried to. It was dark
