      A Dragon’s Freedom

      He sat alone in his cave

      A fire smoldering his soul

      The longer he sat there

      The more he burned inside

      He suffered, pain, anguish

      Why must he be this way?

      Burning alive in his cave

      All alone with his rage

      He’s a Dragon and strong

      Out there's sunlight and joy

      Just there for the taking

      Out there beyond his walls

      He reached for his doorway

      He stood there, stretched his wings

      And prepared to take flight

      A deep breath, wings unfurled

      He leapt into the air

      Wings catching an updraft

      Up words he soared, so free

      As he looked upon the ground

      His soul lifted with him

      Full of joy in the clouds

      His rage evaporated

      Seared away by the light

      Other dragons joined him

      Soaring, joyous and free

      This had always been here

      Joy, beauty, and freedom

      A waste, the suffering

      Time spent on searing rage

      Keeping him prisoner

      Until he set it free

      A lesson to be learned

      Let the rage you feel go

      A mind open, a heart full

      Let yourself fill with joy

      Then you can soar, wings full

      Gliding on the up streams

      Looking at the beauty

      That your life has become

      Damaged

      I cannot be everything you want.

      I am broken

      The events of my life have shaped me.

      I am imperfect.

      I make mistakes I cannot change.

      I survived.

      But surviving is not living.

      I am growing.

      The love
