About this ebook
Running from your past never works. Especially when it's hunting you down.
Former yellowjacket queen, Balsa, has taken refuge with her cousin Juniper after the destruction of her own home by the legendary beemen. When other yellowjacket cities disappear, Balsa must choose between her oath of secrecy and her duty to Juniper's children. But the beemen have other plans, and Balsa's choice is not among them.

About the Author
Drunk with giddy glee, the honeybees danced amidst the rich perfume of flowers too prolific to count. Spiders spun their webs, daring long jumps from bush to bush. Ants marched a solemn procession along straight lines to-and-from their underground burrows. Thundered proclamations erupted from the thicket of green tree tops as birds marked their territories. Wild grass bowed its thick seedy heads—with great reluctance—in deference to the early summer wind, while the sun shed blessings of light and heat into the day.
Despite the activity, Balsa noticed her followers. The cousin-kin tried to be subtle, but their heads tilted in odd directions, their jaws clenched around air instead of prey, and their wings hit an extra half-beat in mid-flight when Balsa turned her attention to them. Not that posture meant much since their scents tasted of nervous excitement, sudden embarrassment, and deep concern. The cousin-kin seemed unaware of their own bodily vapors, but even a childless queen knew how to taste the air.
