About this ebook

New teacher Emmy Lange is adjusting to life at the Redding Boarding School. She can’t shake the giddy feeling that the handsome headmaster, Marcus Powers, is attracted to her. Underneath his stern and commanding demeanor is a spark that beckons to her. When he asks her to his office to review her progress, she can't help but wonder if the intimate setting could lead to some sinful discipline, especially when he takes her to task for her improper usage of his title. His deep voice makes her shiver, and Emmy might find it all too easy to enjoy a "hands-on" lesson on how to properly address the handsome headmaster.

    Good Little Teacher

What can we deduce from Lady Macbeth’s behavior preceding the King’s murder? I ask the class.

A few straggling hands raise around the room, but before I have the chance to call on any of them the bell rings, signaling the end of the lesson and making any further teaching attempts inadvisable.

Finish act three for homework, I tell them over the din of students gathering books and emptying their desks. And don’t forget your term paper is due next Friday. Don’t waste your weekend.

By this point most of the classroom is empty, and the few remaining students are avoiding eye contact. No matter. I’m one lesson away from the weekend, and I don’t care about the themes in classic literature any more than they do right now.

Nicely taught, says a deep voice behind me.

I spin on my heels to the image of Headmaster Marcus Powers, leaning against the doorframe.

It doesn’t matter that Headmaster Powers is young, maybe thirty-eight at the higher end, barely ten years older than I, a lowly, newly recruited English Lit professor. His age plays no factor in the authority or strength with which he carries himself, a confidence that makes the students fall into line with a single look, and the teachers hardly dare to step out of it.

It shouldn’t matter, either, that he’s debilitating handsome, but it does. Even in his headmaster uniform, it’s impossible to ignore the sheer masculinity of the man with his dark, wavy hair, nearly long enough to pull into a
