Chapter 1

Tell me, Captain Bill, have you ever seen anything more beautiful in your life than this place right here?

Nothing tops the open water—or a pretty girl, the chubby older gentleman said with a wink and a chuckle.  But if you've got to be on dry land, Belle de Mer is a damn good place to be.

Forget the girls, this is definitely my happy place, Kyle said with a smile. 

Kyle knew he sounded a little cheesy, but he didn't care.  Every time he walked up to Belle de Mar Marina, he swelled with pride.  The rows and rows of luxury boats sitting in the crystal blue water of Ft. Lauderdale's Intracoastal Waterway were proof that he'd made it.  He'd given up the life he was supposed to have—the insanely stressful office, the overbearing father, and more family responsibilities than he could count—and he was doing something that actually made him happy to get out of bed in the morning.  Owning and running Belle de Mer didn't feel like work to him.  It was the ultimate dream job.

Despite all of its billions, Montgomery Oil simply couldn't compete with Belle de Mer.  The only thing he regretted was waiting 28 years to take control of his life.  Sure, it bothered him that his father had refused to speak to him ever since he quit his fancy executive job—at the generations-old family business, no less—but it didn't bother him enough to abandon his passion.  He'd swapped out the throbbing vein in his forehead for sun-kissed cheeks, and he never planned on turning back.

I have some time before my yoga session, and I thought I'd come say hello, she said as her eyelashes batted.  She leaned in and began stroking his shoulder.  Do you have a few minutes to grab some coffee, Kyle?

Sorry, but I don't, Kyle answered in his best disappointed voice, even though he was anything but.  He ran his hands through his sandy blonde hair to try and make it look like he was really bummed to be busy.  Captain Bill and I are going over some final details for his big charter trip.

Oh, that's too bad.  Guess I'll be early to yoga then.  You should join me in class sometime, Kyle.  You'd be really impressed by how flexible I am, she winked.

He heard Captain Bill stifle a laugh, and then Brittany turned and left as quickly as she'd arrived.

What was that you were saying about pretty girls, Captain Bill? Kyle laughed.  They're nothing but drama.

Unfortunately, Kyle knew that all too well.  Even though it had been a couple of months since he called off his wedding to Lauren, his stomach still churned anytime he thought about women.  Between his money and his good looks, there was always a line of hot girls trying to snag him, and he'd never minded it.  Hell, it was damn nice to have such a selection.  But after a narrow miss with such a manipulative, lying golddigger, he was going to take his time wading back into the dating pool.

You billionaires know all about drama, Captain Bill teased.  When you become an old fat dude like me, you'll give your right arm for a little female drama.

Lord knows Kyle could've had a boatload of female drama if he'd wanted it.  Brittany wasn't the only one who'd started hitting on him.  Even though the Montgomery name was huge—thanks to his movie director brother, Kris, his sex symbol cousin, Dominic, and his superstar athlete cousins, Hunter and Nash—Kyle had never expected to create such a buzz when he bought Belle de Mer.  But before the ink on the paperwork was dry, there was a line of rich women and ditzy socialites waiting for him.  They all claimed that they wanted to talk to him about his sailing expertise, but after hearing one too many eye-rolling pick-up lines and seeing one too many women just happen to bend over in their low-cut shirts, it was obvious that all they really wanted was to take Lauren's place on his arm.

He was proud of himself for turning them all down.  He wasn't ready for the golddiggers, the cougars, and whatever else Ft. Lauderdale society threw his way—and he wasn't going to let anyone pressure him.  His cock wasn't exactly thrilled with the decision, but his principles were more important than sex.

At least for now.

Enough about women, Kyle said to Captain Bill, although he needed to hear the message more than Bill did.  Don't you have a boat to prep?

Chapter 2

Kyle was in his office going over some financial reports that Belle de Mer's accountant had put together for him when his cell phone rang.  He glanced down at the caller ID and breathed a sigh of relief.

What's up, big brother? he said warmly.

I'm walking down to the new set and figured it was the perfect time to check in with my favorite brother, Kris chuckled.  How's the boat business treating you today, Kyle?

Couldn't be better!  You should make one of your movies about me.  I'm an inspiration, Kyle teased.  After all, business executives don't turn into marina owners every day!

They certainly don't, Kris laughed.  Of course, Dad doesn't think it's very inspirational.

The muscles in Kyle's shoulders tensed up as soon as Kris mentioned their father. 

Is he spending all of his time yelling at his employees? Kyle asked.  They must hate me for putting Dad on the war path.

I don't know about the employees, but Dad sure is yelling at me, Kris huffed.

At you?!  Why?

He says I'm partially to blame, since I was the one who suggested you go sailing to get over your breakup with Lauren.  Of course, I never dreamed that you'd actually quit your job to be around sailboats full-time.

It's deeper than that, and you know it, Kyle said firmly.  I thought long and hard about this.  I'm happy.  And I'm committed to it.  I've already started working on becoming a Certified Professional Yacht Broker, and in the meantime, I have an entire marina staff to manage.  It's not like I just sit around all day and play on fancy boats. 

I get it, little brother.  Unfortunately, Dad doesn't see it that way.  He thinks if he gives you the silent treatment long enough, you'll come crawling back.

Kyle shook his head in disgust.  Then he's going to be awfully surprised when that never happens.

Chapter 3

Later that afternoon, Kyle forced all the thoughts of his father out of his head.  He had just finished up a tour of the marina with a prospective client—something that always put him in a good mood—when he found a tall man standing in his office. 

Mr. Montgomery? the man asked.  Between his thick Hispanic accent and the cream-colored guayabera shirt he was wearing, Kyle knew instantly that the man was Cuban.

Yes, I'm Kyle Montgomery, he said with a smile before sticking out his hand.  It's nice to meet you, Mr.—

Gutierrez, the man finished.  Alejandro Gutierrez.

Is that the same Gutierrez as Gutierrez Sugar?

In his short time in Ft. Lauderdale, he'd heard most of the big names in town.  He'd already met several of the city's movers and shakers because Belle de Mer was known as THE place for the rich and famous to store their mega-boats.  Kyle wanted to make damn sure his marina kept that reputation, so he took time to shake hands and make small talk with every big name that came his way.  Lord knows he'd had enough practice doing it while he was growing up.

One in the same, Mr. Montgomery, the man smiled.  I'm honored that a businessman such as yourself has heard of my company.

We Montgomerys love our sugar, Kyle chuckled.  And please call me Kyle.  Every time someone says 'Mr. Montgomery', I whip around in a panic and look for my father.

I'm the same way, so be sure to call me Alejandro, the man said with his own laugh.

I've been a Belle de Mer client for many years, Alejandro explained.  See that 30-foot beauty out there? Kyle looked out the window as Alejandro pointed to the polished hardwood sloop that was docked few slips away.  I'm proud to call her mine, but I'm thinking of adding to my collection.

And you need a place to dock them, Kyle said with a smile.

You read my mind, Kyle!  I'll need about half a dozen slips.  Not just for sailboats.  Maybe a few speedboats, too.

A man with many passions, I like it, Kyle nodded.  It'll be no problem to get you the space.  A loyal client like you will always get first-rate service here.  Let me look through my records, and I'll get a list of available slips for you to choose from.  Can you come back tomorrow to look them over?

I'll be here at 9 AM with plenty of Cuban coffee for you and the entire staff, Alejandro smiled before grabbing Kyle's hand and shaking it again.  Until tomorrow, Kyle.  It's been a pleasure.

Kyle knew he would have to juggle some things around to give Alejandro top-notch slips, but he didn't mind.  Spending his work days consumed by luxury boats was a hell of a lot better than all of the stuffy meetings he'd sat through during his time at Montgomery Oil.

Passion wins out every day of the week, he said to himself as he thumbed through his papers.

Chapter 4

True to his word, Alejandro showed up the next morning at the stroke of 9:00 AM with a huge thermos of Cuban coffee.  As addicted as Kyle had gotten to the strong coffee during his brief time in South Florida, even it wasn't enough to draw his attention away from the beautiful woman who had walked in alongside his client.

She was a classic Cuban beauty—long black hair, with eyes that were the same color as his beloved coffee.  Her slender tanned legs seemed to go on forever, before disappearing underneath a bright green sundress that showed off shoulders with just the right amount of muscle tone.  He could see faint tan lines running down her collarbones—the obvious sign of a day out in the South Florida sun in a string bikini.  He tried desperately to picture her in a sexy bikini, but he figured the real thing was way better than any daydream he could come up with.

Kyle, Alejandro said with a booming voice as he set down the thermos.  I'd like you to meet my daughter, Veronica.

It's a pleasure to meet you, Kyle said as he gently took her hand.  He'd said the same thing to countless debutantes over the years, but he'd never meant it as much as he did right now.

Likewise, she smiled, and Kyle couldn't help but smile back at her.  I've heard rumblings about the Texan who's come to take over Belle de Mer, so I couldn't pass up a chance to see you for myself.

I'm very glad you insisted on seeing me.  He knew his voice sounded flirtatious, and it surprised him.  Out of all the women who'd come through his door, he hadn't flirted with any of them.  But he couldn't help himself now. 

A good business meeting always starts with Cuban coffee, Alejandro said with a smile before he took a big gulp.  Now let's talk about that dock space.

Kyle couldn't tell if Alejandro was ignoring the sparks between him and Veronica or if he really didn't notice them.  Kyle had definitely noticed them, though.  He hadn't felt sizzle like this in a long time—back when he thought Lauren was the love of his life, instead of a money-grubbing opportunist.

That sizzle would have to wait, though.  As much as he wanted to see what was lurking underneath Veronica's sundress, he had a professional responsibility to Alejandro.  He may not have worked at Montgomery Oil, but he still had the Montgomery professionalism running through his veins.

Kyle poured himself a cup of coffee and pulled up a diagram of Belle de Mer's boat slips on his computer. 

It's no problem to move a few of our sales models back a row or two if you want to be right in the front, Kyle explained as he pointed to the screen.  Or, you could be closer to the back.  In fact, I think this area over here gives you the easiest access in and out of the channel.

Perfect!  You've really gone above and beyond to take care of me, Kyle, and I really appreciate it.

Alejandro was smiling from ear to ear, but Kyle was much more interested in the smile that had taken over Veronica's face.  For a brief moment, he tried to imagine how her soft lips would feel against his scorching hot skin.  She'd start by blanketing his chest with kisses, and then she'd move further south towards his rock-hard cock, slowly, making him beg for it.  When they finally got to the main event, he'd make her sexy lips quiver with ecstasy.

Is that OK with you, Kyle? Alejandro asked, snapping Kyle back to reality.

The sooner the better, he thought to himself.  Once business was taken care of, he could devote his full attention to Veronica.

Chapter 5

Veronica took one last glimpse of Kyle before following her father out of the marina office.  Funny, she thought to herself, everyone's talking about the Texas billionaire who bought Belle de Mer, but no one told me how hot he was!

Just as she was trying to envision Kyle in a cowboy hat—and nothing else—she heard a voice pipe up behind her.

Veronica!  Wait a sec!

She turned around and saw Kyle rushing towards her.  It took every ounce of willpower not to start grinning like a cat who'd just eaten a canary.  She didn't want to look like a giddy schoolgirl in front of the hot Texas billionaire.

I wanted to tell you one more time how great it was to meet you, Kyle said.  I'm still pretty new around here, so maybe you could show me some of the sights?  You know, give me the grand tour?

Was Kyle Montgomery asking her out on a date?!  Say something, Veronica, her mind barked.  And try not to sound like an idiot!

I'd love to show you around, she said, trying hard to sound cool and confident.  She'd been on plenty of dates before—heck, there always seemed to be guys who wanted to go out with her—but there was something different about Kyle.  His crystal blue eyes made her stomach do little somersaults.  Even through his shirt, she could see muscles rippling across his chest and shoulders.  She felt a tingle between her legs when she thought of those arms whisking her up and carrying her to the bedroom.

There you are, Veronica! she suddenly heard her father call out.  I thought you were right behind me.  Is everything OK?

Everything's fine, Papa.  Kyle and I were just talking about getting together.
