About this ebook

Romance has many shades. These three quite different tales touch on the magic, the illusion, and the frustrations of the love phenomenon. Anyone who has ever been in love, or has fantasised about the possibilities of such a liaison will perhaps find a few moments to remember. Sometimes love is not what it seems, sometimes it is all in other people’s minds, and then there is the quest to consummate the dream.
Any connection to persons either living or passed on is strictly coincidental. This is a work of fiction.

Life is a wonderful, exciting, sometimes dangerous and often totally boring trip. I have certainly had a taste of all these slices of the human experience and thankfully have managed not to overdose in any particular compartment.I strive to write as honestly and openly as possible, but will never get drawn into discussing the source of inspiration for any particular tale. They are all true in some way. We all have our own truth. That is the way it is with mankind. My journey is seventy years young as of 2016, and if you don’t find me plonking away at a keyboard, I’ll be somewhere behind the lens of my faithful Nikon, tending my private garden or manipulating some beautiful pieces of glass into some form of art.I write for enjoyment, and always endeavour to capture that ‘I know where he’s coming from moment’. This is my first real attempt at the online publishing world, and would love to take the opportunity of thanking you for popping in to meet me.I hope you enjoy the read, and wish you every success in life. It is a wonderful trip.Rex Jacobs.

The warmth of the morning sun reached through the open window and eased onto his naked flesh. He felt for the softness of her breast. As it had been since this beautiful relationship had started, she was not there. At least not present in bodily form. He pressed full length into the comfort of where she had lay pressed into his side through the night. He sensed her. Her scent surrounded him, her perfume was like no other. He would never have another woman so long as he lived. He didn’t even know if he had her. He could never possess her. Possession was for far lesser couplings. Thiers was a romance of mind and soul. The carnal pleasures and exquisite pure sexual delight was so intense and pure that he was convinced it was all a dream. A beautiful dream. A never ending Kaleidoscope of human fantasy. While he believed in her existence it was a dream he could create and submit himself to every single night.

He wasn’t actually counting the nights as such, but he did know it was almost two months since they had first met at the small art gallery in town. The only art gallery in town.

He had seen her across the room. They hadn’t actually talked, but there was a definite and immediate attraction. She was striking in such a serene way. Her alluring eyes drew him to her. She was tall, with beautiful sweeping hair that hung softly over her square shoulders. Her posture was so elegant, and the demure red dress she was wrapped in presented her body in a most visually appealing fashion. He was smitten. He hoped fervently she could not read his mind. She was occupied, but she kept glancing his way unnoticed by her companion. She seemed to be telegraphing a message. There were others in the room. It was the opening night for a local artist.

He would mingle a while and see what transpired. She watched as he blended deeper into the crowd. He sensed her presence follow him, arm in arm as he circulated from one group to the other amongst the invited guests. He wasn’t really good at these functions, but Mary
