About this ebook
BAD DAYS AND OTHER SHORT STORIES is a collection of three, fictional, short stories by Faith Nelson. “Bad Days” is a flash fiction, YA story following the return of a high school student named Laura after a particularly self-created bad day at school. Tired of putting up with her mean teacher, Laura’s attempts at sabotage have disastrously backfired leaving her to explain the string of events to her parents. “Times End” is a fantasy short story set in a completely fictional world that is slowly being torn apart by magic. Keefe, a scavenger for hire and user of Old World magic, is recruited by a trio venturing into the Old World in search of the answer to stopping the decline of their world. “Hedran’s Rift” is a science fiction short story based in an alternate future. Senya Hedran, a human alien hybrid, is among the selected to travel through the rift to present times, and reshape the future by any means necessary.

Bad Days
(adapted from Aesop’s Fables – Mercury and the Woodman)
Bad days were becoming typical. On a scale of one to ten, the days hovered at a continual seven. Today however, had broken the record at a nine.
Laura let the front door slap closed behind her as she staggered into the entry way. Her ankle was swollen and flaring from the accident earlier. She collapsed onto the stairwell and eased her shoe off.
