Three Epic Tales (3 Tales of Epic Fantasy Taken From "The Imp and Other Tales")
By The Saber
()
About this ebook
A collection of three short stories taken from the larger anthology of "The Imp and Other Tales". These three stories are all of the fantasy genre as the Imp Anthology has a mix of fantasy, science fiction, and horror. This little read is entertaining enough to keep you reading through your doughnut and coffee break or two.
The Imp - What does one do when they have captured an imp, made it extraordinarily angry and then find out that it is a very powerful imp indeed?
Crass - Bart has the skills every knight dreams of having. Never beaten in combat or contest, Bart is the knight who is always favored to win. There is only one small problem with Bart, though. He has social grace of a troll.
The
Weird of the Oersin - A true epic fantasy adventure that follows Katigorn and his friend, the fierce Fyr of the clan of the Oersins as they undertake a task put on them by the witch of the fjords to get a legendary talisman.

The imp banged the walls of the crystal jar, powerless to escape. It was obviously cursing me in its fairy tongue, the sheer venom of its demeanor and tone actually burning my ears! I held up the charm and it screamed in anger and fear, but then was quiet.
That’s more like it,
I said, taking a sip off of my Coke and chewing on my hamburger. I really don’t like it when you get so nasty.
Do I look like I really care about what ye like?
it asked in a rich Highlander brogue.
Do I look like I care if you care, you little highlands fairy fart?
I asked, laughing. It started screaming again, this time making my eyebrows literally smoke. I laughed again, infuriating him more, but making him get silent as I held up the charm that had been used to capture him.
Aye! I‘ll be quiet,
it hissed, for now! But mark my words, American! When I be free, your life forfeit will be! I shall relish the tortures I shall put ye through. The millennia of pain ye shall suffer, Mortal! Aye! For now shall I be quiet. For now…
I laughed mockingly at him to get his ire up, but inwardly I took the threat very seriously. Imps, though usually innocuous in nature, could be quite powerful if you ran into the wrong one. And Curruach here was a very potent imp! But it wasn’t MY idea to bring him into this plane of existence. He was sent to destroy me, and damn near did! If I wouldn’t have remembered tales of my childhood from my grandfather, Curruach would have had ME in HIS crystal jar.
Aren’t you supposed to grant me three wishes?
I asked, knowing the response would be more than colorful, yet having its purpose.
I’m not a damned djinn, ye fool!
he barked at me.
Oh! I’m sorry,
I lied. How about you give me your pot of gold?
WHAT!!??
he shrieked. You think I’m a queer leprechaun? Oh when I get me self free…
Oh! You must be a fairy then,
I said, feigning kindness.
AAAAAAH!!!!
Curruach shrieked. I held up the charm that had captured him, as if admiring its beauty. Curruach shut up. After a moment, he spoke in very controlled tones.
Ye have no earthly idea of what I am or what I am capable of doing, do ye? I be no ordinary imp, ye know! I have been advanced to the level of imp-demon first level! And oh how ye shall pay for the indignities ye have done to me this day!
I’m sorry,
I lied. Let me set you free, then.
I grabbed his crystal prison, and for the first time Curruach seemed excited in a good way. I walked outside and approached an odd formation of mushrooms in the shade of an ancient oak that grew in my back yard. They grew in a perfect circle. Curruach’s excitement quickly changed to one of fear.
What think ye?!!
he asked in anger and desperation. His eyes were wide with terror.
I’m letting you go,
I answered. The
