      Google Home User Manual - Ray Higgins

      Introduction

      Google Home is a voice command enabled intelligent device. It is powered by the Google Voice Assistant. Google Home is the strongest competitor to Amazon Echo-which is the pioneer in the digital assistant devices. It is the latest effort by Google to put its Assistant device in your home as an always-on impartial product.

      Released in the USA on November 4th, 2016, Google Home is able to make your life a whole lot easier by doing activities such as answering your queries, creating shopping lists, playing music, giving traffic update, providing news, giving weather updates etc. It also has the ability to integrate with third party smart home devices via Wi-Fi to control lights, temperature, curtains, fans, cameras and so on.   

      Chapter-1: Unpacking & Knowing Google Home

      The box contains three things-

      1.  The Google Home device

      2.  A 16.5 V, 2A power adapter with 180mm long cable

      3.  Small instruction manual

      Knowing Your Google Home

      Different LED Light Actions and Their Meanings

      The Google Home shows a touch of personality with different colors and actions of the LED light array on the top touch panel. It gives an indication on the current activities of the device.

      Here is what different actions mean:

      Chapter-2: Setting up Google Home

      You will need the following-

      1)  The Google Home

      2)  The power adapter

      3)  A smartphone (Android or IOS)

      4)  A Google account (of course!)

      Step-1: Plug in the Google Home

      Plug in the Google Home with a power outlet using the power adapter. The device will automatically boot up. An orange status light and the four-color LED lights should come up on the top of the device. Then you should hear an activation sound. Now Google Home will greet you by saying-

      Welcome to Google Home. To get started, download the Google Home app on a phone or table.
