Hundreds of worlds in English language have been borrowed from Hindi, Urdu, and Sanskrit languages. Several of the Hindi and Urdu words have originally come from Sanskrit.
These words got included in the English lexicon without being translated or altered, following almost the same sound and spelling. Several Hindi words entered English during the British Raj in India.
The borrowed words which entered English language from India during the colonial period are called "Anglo-Indian" words.

Adda
Adda is originally from Bengali language.
It refers to a place where people with similar interests gather for conversation or debate. Ex: We are going to meet at the adda at 5:00 pm this evening.
Ahimsa
The word is originally from Sanskrit language.
Ahimsa means non-violence. Ex: Gandhi began Ahimsa Movement in India against the oppressive British Raj.
Alvar
The word is originally from Tamil language. It is called alvarr
in Tamil.
Alvar means sink, or to be absorbed as one happens to be in contemplation.
Ambarella
The word originally comes from Sanskrit language.
The word entered English language through Sinhalese language. It refers to a kind of tree.
