    Lakwi’s Lament

    Lakwi ran faster as the naughty puppy raced into a corridor leading off the balcony of the Grand Entrance Hall. She had to catch Butterbur before someone noticed him. Dogs weren’t allowed in the palace. The caramel coloured puppy was a gift from Naetok but why had she thought it was a good idea to try to sneak him into her room? Perhaps if she did get caught, Papa wouldn’t punish her too harshly on her birthday?

    Ahead, the puppy skidded left into the atrium balcony next to the Royal Library. Breathing hard,
