Chapter 1
Little hands tapped at his face first then he felt legs moving up his torso.
Daddy.
Tim smiled when he heard that word as he did each time.
Yes Presley.
Can you wake up now?
Tim opened his eyes at the little face staring back at him, But I don’t want to.
Please Daddy I’m hungry.
Tim hugged Presley around his little waist, Ok but don’t wake Mommy.
Ok Daddy.
Tim looked at his sleeping wife who he thought might be faking just so she didn’t have to get up. He picked Presley up and carried him into the kitchen and sat him in his booster seat.
How’s cereal sound?
Yucky, not today its Friday, it’s Pancake day.
Oh, that’s right I forgot.
It’s ok Daddy.
Tim busied himself with the bowls and pancake mix out. How about with some chocolate chips this time?
Tim asked Presley.
Yay chocolate chips.
Presley yelled while raising his hands in the air.
Abbey had been faking bit there was no way she could have gone back to sleep no matter how much she tried with all the noise from the kitchen.
Abbey just laid there listening to the conversation between her husband and her four-year-old. Sooner or later she would have to get up because she was hungry too and pancakes sounded delicious.
Tim was busy at the stove and Presley was racing his car around on the kitchen table when Abbey walked in, Mommy.
Presley said looking up.
Well good morning my sweet boy.
She said leaning down and kissing him on the head.
Presley smiled and then went back to his car racing.
Abbey walked over to Tim, Good morning faker.
He whispered.
Abbey laughed, What on earth are you talking about?
Oh, you know.
Abbey smacked him on the ass as she walked past him to the cabinet to grab a mug."
It’s not like I got any extra sleep with you two out here.
Well you sure liked making noise last night.
It wouldn’t be me if I didn’t.
She smiled.
True it wouldn’t be the same.
Mommy.
Presley asked.
Yes baby.
Are you taking me to the zoo today?
Abbey looked at Tim but he didn’t turn around from the stove but said, Paybacks a bitch.
"Not today baby its Friday mommy should go to work and you’re going to Uncle Vic’s and Aunt Maureen’s remember.’
Can they take me to the zoo?
I don’t know, you’ll have to ask them.
Ok I’ll do that?
Abbey turned to Tim and asked, Are you going into work?
Yeah we have a new client coming in and Greg is off today.
Wait, Greg is taking a day off?
Tim smiled at her, Maggie made him.
Oh, that’s right she did tell me she wouldn’t be in today.
I think their doing wedding stuff.
What fun for Greg.
She replied.
You know he does anything she asks.
Yeah but to take a day off is really pushing it even for Maggie.
That’s love I would take a day off for you.
You better.
She said smiling.
I’m hungry Daddy hurry.
Ok, ok here I come.
Tim and Abbey sat down at the kitchen table to have breakfast with their son who would soon be a big brother.
Tim said goodbye to Abbey and Presley and was on his way into the office. It was usually Greg’s job to greet new clients, but he was finally giving up some control and was leaving it to Tim today to do the pleasing.
All Tim knew what he was meeting Antonia Ellis, a very rich woman who wanted her entire family followed to find out who was stealing from their family business.
Antonia’s father had left the business in the hands of his three children to run after his death. Now there was a significant amount of money being siphoned off slowly and discreetly. Antonia wanted to find out who it was and go after them with the full extent of the law. She wanted the perpetrator in jail.
Tim walked in the office and came face to face with Greg.
What are you doing here?
He asked.
Greg sighed, I came in early to do a few things before Maggie woke up and started planning our day.
