Chapter One: Creation
In this chapter, you will learn stories about:
Creation of the world
Themes of Greek mythology
According to Greek mythology the genesis of the world began with nothingness, a complete void. This void was called Chaos. Different stories say that Chaos was actually a black bird that laid an egg, which later brought the first primordial beings of the universe. Another story suggests that Chaos was a god in the form of a man, who grew sad because of his loneliness that he decided to create the world. Another story says that out of nowhere existence simply just appeared out of nothing.
It is not only the creation story that is a subject of much debate, but also the succeeding stories that happened after that. You will see that throughout Greek mythology, varying accounts of the same story are present. While the core characters and plots remain intact, there are different, sometimes even contradicting stories of the same event in Greek mythological era.
Instead of being confusing, this only adds depth to the already rich and exciting world of Greek mythology, filled with petty gods, warring demigods and humans and even monsters of the world. For sure, the stories in this book are only one of the many versions of the stories as written by the philosophers and scholars that told and retold the stories of the myths.
Chapter Two: The First Ones & the Titans
In this chapter, you will learn stories about:
Gaia & the Beginning
Cronus & His Children
Prometheus & Humankind
Atlas & His Burden
Gaia & the Beginning
Whether it was a bird and its eggs or a God and his creation, most creation stories agree that the very first being that was created was Gaia. She was the Mother Goddess from which all of the Titans and later the Olympians and Greek heroes can trace their ancestry. Through her, all life has been breathed
