    One of the best things about smoking and grilling out is that you are choosing a very healthy way to cook your food. It’s pretty awesome that grilling and smoking is a healthy method because the taste of your food is so good, you won’t want to cook any other way. Having the right smoker and grill has made my summers so much better. In fact, I don’t want for the summer. We cook out as often as possible in my house. And you probably will, too!

    When you are choosing the meat you want to grill, go for round and loin cuts, choosing the select or choice type before you go for the prime. They will have less fat on them but you may still need to trim it when you are ready to cook it. Don’t forget, you will need to use a rack so that the fat that is still on the meat will drip down and not gather underneath the meat. I prefer a little fat to be left on my meats. This will be your preference but the less fat you leave on it, the healthier it will be for you.

    Vegetables sides are delicious when smoked and grilled, as well. Don’t mistake your grill for just a meat cooker. Smoked celery, cucumbers, peppers and more will delight you and anyone you are feeding. Not only that, but fruits are great when they are grilled, too! This book contains several recipes that give you instructions on how to grill peaches, pineapples and more. Sugars that are in fruits will caramelize, creating an unbelievable flavor. Since you are using this method, those natural sugars will not be overwhelming and will help you stay on the healthier side, if that is your intention.

    Don’t neglect your grill basket. There are plenty of small foods you might want to grill or smoke, such as tomatoes, small peppers and little potatoes. So make sure you are taking advantage of your grill basket and skewers.
