Beverly Ovalle

Beverly Ovalle dabbled with writing on and off for years when her best friend finally dared her to submit a story to a writing contest. Beverly decided she had nothing to lose and since she'd always wanted to be an author sent it in and agonized for months waiting to hear back. Contract in hand she has never looked back. Beverly has been obsessed with dragons and romance since she was a young girl, collecting dragon books and reading everything she could find on them even down to the care of real life dragons. She's always been slightly panicked that the world as we know it will end, so has prepped for it, haunting survivalist pages and prepper projects she felt she needed in the event SHTF.  An avid fan of all romance, Beverly's goal is to share her love of the written word and write the hot and erotic romances that she enjoys. She writes what she loves to read and it was only a matter of time before her obsessions crept into her writing for her to share. She hopes you enjoy her tales as much as she loves writing them. A Navy Veteran, Beverly has traveled around the world and the United States enabling her to bring her settings to life, meeting and marrying her husband along the way for her own romance. Reading romances since the fourth grade she's followed as the genre changed and spread into the vast cornucopia of romance offered today.

Rise of the Dragons - Beverly Ovalle

    CHAPTER ONE

    ––––––––

Dax felt the change in the world. The rumbles beneath the earth began, slowly. The volcanoes started speaking to the sky. The volcano reacted to each wound of the earth, it’s pain pouring out in lava and smoke. Attuned to the earth, Dax knew something was wrong. He stretched and yawned, nudging his mate, Jasima. Shaking his long sleep off, he shook from head to tail.

What’s happening? Jasima yawned, looking over at her mate.

I don’t know. We need to check it out. Dax looked toward the tunnel that led to the outside world, slowly pacing toward it. He worried that these changes would endanger his family. The world had advanced so fast, Dax had taken his family and hidden them. Hibernating protected them from the world of man. Their life spans were so much longer than humans. Dax hoped that when they rose, the world would one day be safe for them again. But whatever was happening now couldn’t be good.

His hatchlings stirred; the rumbles of the volcano they nested in making the ground thrum. One hatchling, Ari, stirred, blinking one sleepy eye. He was usually the leader of his siblings. He sniffed the light breeze. The movement of the molten lava through the cave warmed the air. The occasional spitting of the lava brought heat, but no harm. He looked around curiously.

Shhh, my ciglets, go back to sleep. Jasima’s soft voice brought a smile to Dax’s face. Ari grumbled, but laid his head back down. Her humming soothed not only their children, but Dax also. She insisted on calling them her ciglets, even though they were all fully grown. Dax snickered. The term made their boys scowl whenever she used it. Despite their groans, Dax refused to chide her about the term. She could call them anything she wanted. Jasima was his world and he could refuse her nothing. They would learn, once they found their own mates.
