      Absolutely loved this book!!!

      I've read both books in the Carter Reed series, but only the second book involves Cole Mauricio somewhat. This book is about Cole, taking his rightful place in the family, that once belonged to his father who was murdered along with his while family. He was hiding 5 years after his 7 siblings and parents were killed by the Bertels, their rival Mafia family. Carter Reed took over while Cole was in hiding; Carter trained him and was the only one who knew where he was until a traitor in the family, Cole's uncle who was power hungry wanted him dead, tried to kill him. But he underestimated Cole's training.

      Addison Bowman Sailor lost her husband, Liam, when a drunk driver hit his car right in front of her. She was waiting for him while walking their dog one evening and saw it happen. She hasn't been the same in the year since it's happened. Living in their home brings back both good and bad memories. She keeps hearing his voice and has terrible nightmares. When her best friend, Sia, gets information about an opening in an exclusive building in downtown Chicago, she begs Addison to go look at it. After canceling three times they go see it and Addy falls in love with the place.

      She meets several tenants living there but no one knows who the owner is. One day when Addison decides to run on the track, she meets a gorgeous man. She's never felt anything for another man since her husband died, but this mysterious man has awakened feelings no one else has. He invites her to run with him again at the same time each day but she chickens out until Sia stands her up on a Saturday night. He's there dressed for a night out and asks her to dinner. They barely make it through drinks.

      Cole can't and won't tell Addy his lifestyle until he knows that this is more than a fling. Things change drastically when he sees her at a gala.

      Addy attends Sia's art gala and runs into her ex-in-laws. They hated her when Liam was alive, now's no different. When Cole shows up with Carter Reed unexpectedly and confronts the elder Sailors, Addy's life as she knew it will never be the same. Liam's mother is the daughter of the founding member of the Bertal Family. They are the ones that killed Cole's whole family. That also means that even though her husband was estranged from his family, he was close to his grandmother, who insisted that her grandchildren stay away from the business. She left him $20 million inheritance when she died, which Addison got when her husband died.

      After the gala, she researches who Cole is on the internet and is blown away. Then again not knowing who her husband was all along was a shock as well.

      Weeks later, Addison is drugged and kidnapped in the middle of a gala by her mother-in-law and one of Cole's own men; he's out for blood; who turns out to be working for the Bertal Family. That's when he realizes how he really feels about Addison and he doesn't care if he starts another mafia war over her.
