About this ebook

Purple and green billowed as he exhaled.

Pixie dust. Felix's one vice, helped his knees stop aching and his body remember what it was like to be young.

But this batch brought rage instead of youth, violence instead of relief.

Not a good thing to inflict on an old dragon hunter, especially one as not-human as Felix.

Only question was who'd pay for it: his neighbor Youneda or the dealer.

Purple and green billowed around Felix as he exhaled. The world shifted, wobbling like he was on a tiny boat, unstable one at that. Bad batch, this pixie weed. He should have paid for the better stuff this time around. But he'd been out and the trader was right there, offering what he needed. Wanted. He'd wanted to remember what it was to have knees that didn't ache, heart that didn't strain every time he stood or walked too fast.

Not what he'd gotten this time. No, this pixie weed was the sort that gave you sense memories of movements, not the ability to move again. Damn it. His own fault. He should have insisted on testing it before buying it.

Just meant that he'd have to hold off mowing the lawn. Not that he'd intended to do so today. Rain was coming in, great dark clouds billowing upwards as the temperature dropped outside. Good enough reason to sit on his porch and smoke his pixie weed instead of wrestling the damned mower out and trimming the grass.

Why had he spent all the time and money on a lawn? Too damned much work, growing grass. Should have just gotten clover seed. Smelled better and that'd have brought in the little fairy-deer in to nibble at it over the night.

Pretty little things. He'd found them so terrifying when he was a child, right after the
