    Sondrea L. Tolbert is a native of Alexander City, AL and resident of Nashville, TN. She has a love for education and inspiring others. A graduate Fisk University, she also has earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from North Carolina Central University School of Law and a Master of Divinity from Payne Theological Seminary. Although currently, she works in the area of criminal law and educates the minds of college students in business law at Tennessee State University, much of her time is spent nurturing others in her role as assistant pastor of Fairfield Missionary Baptist Church and as the director of the National Consortium of Black Women in Ministry Nashville where she has led breast cancer awareness, domestic violence, and HIV/AIDs initiatives. She also is a freelance writer for Abingdon Press. In every aspect of life, Sondrea encourages others to choose to shine despite whatever issues in life they may face. Her life's work is dedicated to loving service while obtaining pure joy by ushering others into a closer walk with God. In writing these devotions, she seeks to share that same joy with you.

      KEEP SHINING

      Yes, you are light, so stop dwelling (taking up residence) in darkness. There is work for you to do. You are to walk as children of the light. You are to show forth God―s light to others at home, on your job, at church and everywhere. Sounds good but how do I do it? Watch: what you say, how you say it, and to whom you say it. Watch: what you do, how you do it, when you do it, and whom you do it with. Watch where you go; how you go and whom you go with. I think you get the picture. You do not have to say, do or go all the time. Everything is not for you. Remember you are the light of the world, a child of light. God―s light is in you and on you. As you walk (move, progress) through life, your steps (as a good man or woman of God) are ordered by God. You represent Him. He has sent you on a mission to show forth His Glory! After all, you were fearfully and wonderfully made created in His image and likeness for His Glory. So, keep shining!

      Prayer

      Lord, let my light shine in all that I do so that others may see you in me and glorify you. May those who do not know you, see you in me and ask what must I do to be saved. May I walk worthy of my salvation and show forth your light. Amen.

      WHO IS LIKE THE LORD?

      Who is like the Lord? Nobody! God has done, is doing and will do marvelous things and wondrous works in your life. Just take a minute and think about it. If it had not been for the Lord – where would you be? You have so much to thank God for! Who can give you peace of mind? Nobody, but Jesus! Who can give you hope when all around you is uncertainty and despair? Nobody, but Jesus! Who can give you strength at your weakest point? Nobody, but Jesus! Who can give you joy in the midst of sorrow? Nobody, but Jesus! Who can you trust with your deepest need? Nobody, but Jesus! Expect that you will receive God―s goodness TODAY! For who is like the Lord? Nobody! He will do wondrous things TODAY!

      Prayer

      Lord, you are an awesome wonder! Your works are marvelous and no one compares to you. Lord, forgive me for taking you for granted. You have done so much for me in spite of me. Amen.

      And now, indeed, I am going to my people. Come, I will advise you what this people will do to your people in the latter days.
