DIY Body Butters: Homemade Body Butter Recipes for Skin Rejuvenation and Hydration: DIY Beauty Products & Skin Care

About this ebook
The saying goes that we only get one body and that we have to treat it well. One of the most important things that you can do for your body is to take care of your skin. You remember your elementary school biology lesson that your skin is the biggest organ in your body, right? Sure you have to take good care of your heart and the internal organs but your skin deserves some care as well. Keeping your skin soft and well-hydrated is important not only for its appearance but for its function as well.
Body butters are more than just your typical lotion. They are typically made from a much higher oil/fat content and provide more hydration and more softening to your skin. These body butters are also typically more easily absorbed into the skin meaning that you get the most of the benefits without the ingredients being washed down the drain or wiped away with a towel or clothing.
Since they are readily available people might wonder why making body butters on your own is even suggested let alone encouraged. As you will see from this book the benefits of homemade are extraordinary plus there is the bonus of having a lot of fun in the process. This book will show you these benefits which include:
- The ability to control the types and quality of the ingredients that you use.
- The ability to adjust scents and additional ingredients for your own optimal health and happiness.
- The security of knowing that what is in the jar is safe for your family.
- The ability to whip up specialty body butters for friends and family members as gifts for special occasions and just because you love them.
This book will take you through the basics of the universal recipe and will help guide you through the additions of special ingredients like salts and sugars, essential oils and more.

DIY Body Butters - Rhonda Bradley
Introduction
I have a confession to make. I am a body butter junkie. There. I said it. I believe that my body deserves wonderfully scented, thick and luxurious creams for all of the hard work that it does for me on a regular basis and have no problems giving these creams to it.
Don’t get me wrong. I am no girlie-girl here. I run obstacle course races- most of which involve mud. I pick up heavy things over and over again during my training. I crawl on the ground, jump over logs and shimmy over concrete dividers. All of these things are great for my body and my fitness but virtually destroy my skin. My female friends who do these same things have callouses and rough spots, even the ladies who are half my age. What is my secret? I truly believe that even when I am dead tired that I owe it to myself to slather on thick, luscious body butter and all will be right once again.
Now, here is my secondary confession, one that directly impacts the first one. I am kind of a cheapskate. I do not like shelling out the prices for premium body butters nor do I fully trust the ingredients in the bargain brands. So, I was forced with a dilemma. Either I could compromise my budget and buy the higher priced brands and hope that they were not hiding anything unseemly in their fancy jars or I could buy the bargain basement stuff and hope it did not peel my skin off in great swathes. And then it struck me. I could totally make my own body butters at home! I mean, I can follow a basic recipe and I do know quite a bit about oils and essential oils and aromatherapy as it is. I am also lucky enough to have not one but two people who own soap/lotion companies that are more than happy to share information with me. (When I am pressed for time I do buy stuff from these two women. Also, I only use their soaps because they are fabulous.)
Do not be intimidated. It takes only a few minutes of hands on time and some simple ingredients plus equipment you probably already have in your own home. Gather some old jars (I rewash spaghetti sauce jars and the like) and get ready to make your own incredible body butter for your personal use or to give as gifts.
