    SWEPT

    TRINIDAD SALEM & DOMINIQUE CARVER

    From Remember Love Redux

In the vignette entitled: The Interview

    By

    AlTonya Washington

    Dear Reader,

Swept is an idea I’ve toyed with and cast aside for quite some time. I tend to create couples who don’t let go of me even after I’ve put their stories to bed. Snippets of situations that could’ve taken place between them come to mind at the strangest times. Sometimes the idea or snippet is just an abstract thought that I think might be fun to flesh out between certain couples.

I guess it’s fitting that I selected my first couple Trinidad Salem and Dominique Carver for the premiere installment of Swept. I do hope you’ll be on board for additional vignettes featuring your favorite heroes and heroines.

For those new to my work and hungry for more of these characters, you’ll find their full stories via your favorite print or e-book provider.

    Happy Reading!

    Love,

    AlTonya

    The Interview

TRINIDAD SALEM, A LETTER FROM A HERO...

I caught her off guard, I’ll admit it. It wasn’t my intention to make her doubt herself or her ethics, but hell...I couldn’t help it. I was weak, still am, always will be when it comes to her. She was there to do a job and I used that to get closer to her...Typical male, I guess she thought at the time.

By now, I’ve redeemed myself in her eyes. She loves me. I’d give my life for hers-all is right in the universe. But back then...then we were on a slippery slope and I was way outside familiar territory. You see, I may’ve caught her off guard, but she most definitely returned the favor.

To the lady of the hour!

The surge of laughter at the round table seating 10 seemed enveloped by the mixture of lively conversation and cheerful cries inside the warmly lit dining room. Nevertheless, the colleagues of the award winning WQTZ news channel only heard the sounds of their own revelry.

The proclaimed ‘lady of the hour’ raised her glass high in acknowledgement of the toast.

    To Dom! Ben Perry cheered.

    To Dom! The crowd replied.

Dominique Carver’s champagne stare beamed as exquisitely as her smile. She bowed her head and sent a wealth of short, bouncy curls into a stunning cocoa-colored face.

"I don’t know, guys. Lady of the hour doesn’t sound too accurate, WQTZ’s Director of Programming Skye Debbs looked toward her friend and co-worker. Lady of the year, I’d say. I mean when was the last time any among our humble lot got any of the brass to acknowledge all the hard work we put in."

Amen! WQTZ News Manager Quint Lude agreed and raised another glass of champagne-his fourth of the evening.

Guys! Guys! Dom waved a hand to urge calm. It’s only an assignment.

"Beautiful and modest! It’s a wonder Hoyt couldn’t say no to her!"

Dom dipped two fingers into her champagne and flicked them at Quint. Don’t even try it! She ordered. He says it to me often and quite well.

Well he didn’t this time, Marki Sams argued, tipping her glass to gesture toward Dominique. On location interviews are few and far between these days. That time, the station’s Hair and Makeup
