About this ebook
Man has dreamed of faster than light drive so they can visit the any star in a decent time frame, one lifetime or with only a few years travel. Well Einstein's general theory of relativity says it's impossible. He and other physicist claim that gravity is the base that the universe is built on. That leaves all possibilities of manipulating gravity at travel slower that light speed, or maybe exceeding light speed by manipulating gravity in a way that we haven't turned from theory into a practical application.
The space between the stars is not empty. Dust particles, small rocks, large rocks called asteroids, probable rogue planets, just to name a few. The faster you're moving the harder the impact. Jump off a high diving board, entering the water at speed makes the water feel hard. To travel between the stars requires speed, very high speed because of the distances involved.
This story is about one man's dream to visit the stars, and his possible solution. What he finds, and what the results of his travels. It also demonstrates the usual effects of ambition, anger, fear, greed, and desire for revenge. The qualities that every individual possesses.

I've loved westerns and science fiction since I picked up my first book at the public library. I've been writing on my computer for years. I never planned on any of my stories being published, just to be read by myself, family, and friends. The base journal is on forty spreadsheets with links to about a thousand files of short one day paragraphs plus other stories. {My claim to fame, written by someone else. Thanks.} "As an earthbound retiree, Stephen writes mostly science fiction and short stories. He is a voracious reader and has written for a few years, publishing his stories on Smashwords."

Author's Notes
This book is a work of fiction. All characters, organizations, incidents, and dialogue are from the authors imagination or used fictitiously. Any resemblance to actual events or other persons, living or dead, is entirely coincidental. Real and fictional locations are used for background only.
It is strange how events in a time line can bring completely different stories together. It's almost as if the alternative time lines wants to merge with the original.

Chapter 1 Prototype
Jed, the preliminary test showed just about the identical results you predicted.
Thats good Will. How soon before T-bone can get a crew up here for a test.
From what he said, It'll take fourteen hours.
That gives us time to eat and sleep. Are the capacitor banks charged?
Jed, the gauges indicate that they are at thirty-nine percent. The delay should give them time to fully charge.
Well Will, lets grab some chow.
Twenty hours later T-bone opened the shipboard intercom and announced, Jed, Will, get yourselves up here.
Damn T-bone. Where's the rest of the crew. I only saw three in the galley.
Jed, those are the only ones that volunteered, even with the bonus. No one else trust those Tesla calculations and construction techniques. I've got my share of superstitious yahoos.
Are you coming with us?
"Yes, there have to be two pilots for any flight. The other two guys are the ones that helped build the capacitor banks and drive. They'll be back in the engine room for the flight.
What do the instruments indicate. Is everything ready to go?
Will, check the instruments.
Jed, the extra time allowed the capacitor bank to charge up to nine-two percent. Hang on a minute while I run the rest of the diagnostics.
I'll get my copilot up here to familiarize himself with the new controls.
Jed, everything checks out to three decimal points. Tell T-bone and his copilot we're ready. I've got all the diagnostic instruments ready to record.
As Jed strapped himself into the captain's chair he announced, T-bone, prepare for a low speed run to Mars at 11 percent light speed. Then we'll to a high speed run at 0.4 light speed to Venus. Engine room, report status and when you're secure.
Engine room personnel secured. I do have one question Captain. We didn't build in a power drain. What happens when the capacitor units are fully charged? The extra juice has to go somewhere.
Engine room, don't you guys remember the thermal dump built into the rockets, and the fact that the hull sections can be disconnected by the circuit breakers.
Sorry Captain,
