    Vikas Swarup was born in the early 1960s and grew up in a family of lawyers before embarking on a career in diplomacy. Within this field, he deals particularly with Turkey, the United States, Great Britain and South Africa. Since 2013, he has been working at the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi, where he lives with his wife, an artist, and their two sons.

    Swarup used his imagination and creativity to write his three novels. His books are all bestsellers that have been awarded numerous prizes, translated into dozens of languages and adapted for cinema. This sizeable success can be explained in particular by the fascination that Indian culture holds over the rest of the world.
