Sentence is a group of words that expresses a complete thought and makes sense. Sentence begins with a capital letter and ends with a full stop, a question mark or an exclamation mark.

Sentence is of different types. Sentence is classified according to its structure and function. According to structure, there are simple sentence, compound sentence, complex sentence, and compound-complex sentence. 

It clearly explains the simple sentence. Simple sentence expresses a single idea. Simple sentence is an independent clause that has only a subject and a predicate.

It analyzes the compound sentence. Compound sentence comprises two or more simple sentences loosely joined together by semi-colons or coordinating conjunctions.

It appraises the complex sentence. Complex sentence consists of at least one independent clause plus one or more dependent clauses. Complex sentence is of two types. They are loose sentence and periodic sentence.

It evaluates the compound-complex sentence. Compound-complex sentence consists of at least one independent clause and one or more dependent clauses. 

It also discusses the sentences according to function. According to function, there are declarative sentence, interrogative sentence, imperative sentence and exclamatory sentence. 

It examines the elements of sentence. They are subject, verb, object, complement and adverbial. In every good sentence, the subject and verb are compulsory while other elements are optional.

It highlights the patterns of sentence. A pattern differs from another because there are changes in the sentence elements, especially the object, complement or adverbial. 

It shows how to employ parallelism in the construction of sentences. Parallelism is the state of having similar nouns, phrases and clauses in a sentence.
