Body Language - Judy Bryant
Introduction
Body language is a powerful mean of communication which, unlike others, does not use any word. We often use it unconsciously, especially to communicate emotions. It is a widely accepted medium to communicate with deaf and dumb people. It is a form of non-verbal communication that we all use and we all can read; however some of us are very good than others at deciphering and, maybe more importantly, controlling body language. Learning to control and understand body language is a valuable skill, and you can develop this skill with some practice. Body language offers different ways to convey your concept even between strangers. You can simply communicate with nonverbal cues and emotions. The eyes play an important role in this nonverbal communication because you can understand the feelings of other people by reading their eyes. Hands, eyes, face and even tone of the voice prove helpful to understand the feelings and intentions of other people.
Physical behavior plays an important role in this nonverbal communication. The gestures, facial expressions and the movements are all forms of physical behavior. Eyes are known as a gate to look into the soul, because you can reveal lots of things about a person by reading his/her eyes. While talking to a person, notice the movements of the eyes in the conversation because people may make direct eye contact or divert their gaze. Some people have a habit to frequently blinking their eyes. While evaluating the personality of a person, you may focus on the eye gaze, blinking rate and the size of the pupil. These factors give a clear message about the feelings and emotions of another person.
Eye reading is really beneficial because you can, for example, use it to your advantage to clench a deal at work. You can evaluate the inner feelings of a person, and act according to it. Making eye contact while communicating with clients will give a positive impression that you have confidence in what you are saying.
