About this ebook

Hole In Time Episode .. Pilot
The Hole In time series is becoming incredibly popular. I wrote the Pilot to give you some backstory.
The Earth is under control of a shadow government, operated by a race of beings who are known as the Universal Police. The U.P. are hell bent on forcing the inhabitants of the earth to submit to their authority while seemingly giving them what they desire most, peace.
Peace comes at a high price as these beings rule over the earth and all of those in this sector.
Ben, the captain of a military vessel, finds that a crew of miners disappeared from the tunnels as his last official act before the earth's military is gutted. Discovering that the mineral they were mining is unstable Ben and his friend Darcy are unsure what to do with it or about it.
The Pilot brings us back to before Ben, and his team falls through the proverbial rabbit hole of space and time. Giving us some insight into his real mission, now we understand what he and his team are trying to attempt.
The Pilot Episode is the first of seven episodes to date counting The Pilot. Each of these is a lunchtime read. TW’s keen wit and sense of humor are weaved into the fabric of this series.

This is going to sound a little silly. Those of you who have pets might understand.

I dedicate this episode to my Russian Blue Mishka. My hard headed Muse or Mews is often demanding to be the center of attention. Not sure if it is the breed or this cat but, either way, he allowed me to write without too many distractions.

So this is to Mishka or little bear in Russian.

A distress signal from a mining colony sent Ben and his crew back to their Galaxy, the MilkyWay. During the extraction of a new mineral yet to be named, a cave-in sent them scrambling. The days of fighting evil were over as a Universal Police Force took care of those that did not respect the agreements in place.

The military was soon a Skelton of its former self, Ben and the crew were just a few of the bones left.

Assisting with the search and rescue Ben and his team worked long days removing the debris. Getting to the desired depth that this material was found took everything in their arsenal of tools to get there. Much to their surprise once there, the miners were nowhere to be found.

Ben, look at these walls, Bill exclaimed.

The walls of the mine were pitted as if certain rocks were surgically extracted. The mineral that they were after was missing in its entirety.

Bill, his longtime friend and second in command was as trusted as anyone.

Forensic investigation showed the cave-in was due to structural failure of the mine. These miners were far too professional to make such a mistake. Ben had known a few of them. Where were they now?

Scan after scan showed that they were nowhere to be found in the tunnels.

Another ship entered orbit from a private company which transported cargo. Ben was hopeful that his friend Darcy was aboard. Ben was unaware that Darcy had a brother who was stationed on this planet.

The doors to the conference room burst open to find several people studying charts, talking in hushed tones and poking holes in the air with their fingers as they spoke of the different options. Mine tunnels and depths were different before the event. Now they were much wider, deeper and less stable.

Darcy walked in locking eyes with Ben. She was happy to see him, but something was wrong, and Ben felt it.

    Is it true? She asked.

Hello to you too, is what true?

    Are they gone?

The captain of her ship took a back seat allowing the line of questioning going on between Darcy and Captain Ben Smith to unfold.

We have not found any of the miners yet Darcy.

Tears escaped her as she tried to hide her emotions.

Ben approached her now looking into her face. He knew that she was much too professional to let something like this upset her to the point of emotional outburst. People die in space all the time. This is a tough career choice, and bad things happen. You can train and train, but in the end, bad things happen!

Physiological and psychological training are performed on anyone
