About this ebook

"The elements of this winning romance are definitely in sync."—Publishers Weekly, STARRED REVIEW

He's always looked to the stars
Now she's the brightest light in his universe.

Brilliant astrophysicist Dr. Owen Shaughnessy feels more connected to the cosmos than to people. He's great with calculations, but when he leads a team of scientists to study a famous meteor shower, he doesn't factor in his free-spirited artist assistant Brooke Matthews.

Polar opposites in personality, the friction between Owen and Brooke threatens to derail the project. But the beauty and mystery of the night sky draw them together—and she's going to surprise him in ways the stars never could.

Author

Samantha Chase

New York Times and USA Today Bestseller/contemporary romance writer Samantha Chase released her debut novel, Jordan's Return, in November 2011. Although she waited until she was in her 40's to publish for the first time, writing has been a lifelong passion. Her motivation to take that step was her students: teaching creative writing to elementary age students all the way up through high school and encouraging those students to follow their writing dreams gave Samantha the confidence to take that step as well. When she's not working on a new story, she spends her time reading contemporary romances, playing way too many games of Scrabble or Solitaire on Facebook and spending time with her husband of 25 years and their two sons in North Carolina.

My heart aches. The tears have left tracks down my checks. It is rare for a book to touch me this deeply. It takes an extremely talented author like Nora Roberts or Danielle Steel to do this. I laughed. I cried. I cheered Owen on! I love Owen completely! His lack of confidence, social awkwardness, & ineptness endeared his character to me. Brooke is a complete opposite of him but was perfect for him since she had already changed her personality from the mean girl she was in school. She knew how difficult it was & without knowing it, was able to guide him along his path. The interactions between Owen & his family were enlightening. Owen & Riley always relied on each other until Riley became jealous of Owen's growth. When Owen stood up for himself, didn't back down & let Riley have it, I could have cheered! The Owen they knew didn't call them on their bad manners. The interactions between Owen & his dad, Brooke & her uncle & even Owen & his mentor were tender & educational. These moments lead to more & more details of their pasts & personalities coming to the surface. The intensity of the attraction from the minute Brooke & Owen meet jumps off the page at you. I don't know how Samantha Chase does it. Each story builds on the feelings from the previous ones. This can be read as a stand alone since each plot ends within the book. If you start at the beginning with the first book, you get more of an understanding into the personalities. I don't feel that my review has done this book justice but I've done my best. I can't wait for Darcy's story!

Owen has four brothers who all excel in various ways. Owen himself is a genius, an astrophysicist who charts the night sky. But next to his brothers he feels a nerd, inferior and socially inept. He's immediately attracted to Brooke, a former beauty pageant winner who has her own insecurities. While popular, she never felt that she is smart enough or much of a success. She's struggling to strike out as an artist but doesn't have much luck yet. This is a lovely and sweet story about two people who feel inferior but are really just humans. not infallible. The romance develops slowly and there are some bumps along the way, but these are two people meant for each other. There are some passages that can make the reader cry and others that make you laugh. I haven't read anything by this author before but I'll definitely be looking for more of her books.
