About this ebook

Kelly cried, looking at Grant.  How was she to raise their baby on her own?  She walked around the statue.

Tears of blood streamed down her face and neck.  She sat down on the couch, rubbing the ever-growing baby bud.

She closed her eyes thinking about their short time together.  Her head jerked, as someone came upon the porch.

Kelly rushed to the other side of the door, and waited as a hooded figure entered.  She grabbed at the hood pulling it off.  The woman smiled at her.

"Well there you are!" She raised her hand.  Kelly watched as it glowed, ready to subdue her. She smiled at the witch.

"I don't think so.  We're hungry!"  She growled, grabbing the witch.  Her fangs extended.  The girl screamed as she bit into her neck.

Kelly lavished, as the warm blood ran down her throat.

Can Grant and Kelly keep their humanity, and save their baby?

Can they fight off the witches, and deadly hunters?

Join the fight, as vampires, hunters, and witches battle it out.

There will be blood, death, and salvation.

Midnight 2 - Michael Lee Ables Jr.

    Chapter One

Grant grabbed Shane’s hand.  Grant felt himself infused.  He let go and rushed forward, pounding on the hunter.  He backed off looking surprised.

So, the rumors are true.  You are very powerful. He gritted his teeth, and turned to run.  Shane raised his hands, and seconds later he rose into the air.  He looked over at Grant and nodded.  Shane lets him fall to the ground. Grant rushed forward, pounding him.

You will never hurt another one of my kind! the man smiled at him.

I will erase you vampires off the face of this earth! the hunter stood up.  You can’t win this. He reached into his back and pulled out a sword.  Shane stepped back.  The blade glowed.  Shane had read about these swords in his parent’s books.  They had been enchanted with dark magic.  They were used to kill supernatural threats.  Who wants to go first? Shane raises his hands again.  He smiled at Grant.  The sword tore from his hands.  The hunter flew through the sky, and into the house.  Shane closed his eyes and mumbled.  The house exploded.

    Is he dead? Shane shrugged.

He’s been around for a very long time.  Who knows what kind of protection he has. Shane turned to his car, but he heard a laugh. They turned to see the hunter standing on the grass laughing at them.

It will take more than that! Grant rushed forward and grabbed him.  He sank his teeth into the man’s neck!

Drink, my friend! Shane’s eyes got big.  Grant started to choke, and coughed up blood.  Seconds later Grant stood frozen in stone.  Shane looked at the hunter with fury.

It’s only you and me now pretty boy!  Shane raised his hands again.  His body radiated, he looked up at the sky.  Moments later there was a howl, and then another.  The hunter jerked his attention to the woods.  Seconds later the first beast came into view.  Shane directed it to the Hunter.  He watched as he stepped to the side.  The beast flew through the air and landed a good ten feet away.  He turned his attention back to Shane.  Time to die boy! before he could even take a step the wolf jumped him from behind, forcing him to the ground.  The beast bit into his shoulder, tearing away the flesh.  Shane walked over and looked at Grant, and then at the vehicle.  He used his power to load the statue of Grant into the car.  He looked back as another wolf joined the first.  They tore into the hunter.  Shane smiled at the scene. He jumped into the vehicle, and drove off.

Shane drove until he came upon the next house.  He had sent the girls here.  This place was under a secret name, and he figured it would be hard for anyone to track them here.  As he drove up he saw Kelly, and Shannon come out.  They rushed over to him.

Where’s Grant?  Shane looked at Kelly with sad eyes.

He’s in the back!  he watched in the side view mirror as she rushed back, and swung open the doors.  He heard her wail, as she climbed in and looked at the statue.  He slowly opened his door.  Shannon rushed up to him, and kissed him.

Are you ok? he nodded, looking at her.  The net had burned into her skin.

Are you ok? he asked, running his hands over the burn marks.  She nodded.

It doesn’t hurt.  It was much worse. With that the two of them walked to the back.  Kelly had thrown herself over the statue.  She looked up.

How did this happen?  Shane stood looking at her.

He drank from the Hunter.  He should have known better! he shook his head.  I’ll do my best to reverse the spell, but it’s not going to be easy.

Shane stood in the smaller alter room.  This house wasn’t one of their most elegant.  It didn’t have any staff either.  He looked at the few books that were on the shelves.  He reached into his pocket and pulled out the shrunken box. He sat it on the table, and started to mumble.  The box shook and then grew back to its original size.  He reached in looking for a particular series.  He knew he had a volume on the Hunters.  At the very bottom, he saw what he was looking for.  He put all the others back in the box, and shrank it back down.  He stuffed it into his pocket.  Shane opened the book.  There on the inside was an inscription.  Be weary, he who messes with the Hunter.  Only Death will come.  Shane smiled, thinking about it.  He turned the page.  Shane sat for hours reading through the book.  He had learned many secrets that might help them in the future.  He stood up.  He needed a break, and food.  When he entered the living room, he saw the statue of Grant.  Kelly sat still crying.  She looked up.

Have you found anything? Shane shook his head.

I’m only halfway through the book.  I’m sure I’ll find something. He looked at Shannon and smiled.  I can’t think on an empty stomach.  What do you say we go and get something? She stood up and walked over to him.  He kissed her.  She turned and looked at Kelly.

Will you be ok for a while? she nodded.

Shane and Shannon wondered the streets.  This was a small town, and almost everyone was in bed.  Up ahead, they saw a small diner that still had the lights on.  They stood on the corner and watched as a few people came out and got into their cars.  One couple caught their attention.  They couldn’t keep their hands off one another.  Shane looked over and nodded.  In a blink of an eye they had the couple.  They ran back to the house.  Shane looked and saw that Kelly still sat on the couch in front of the statue.

Would you like something to eat? she looked up and shook her head.  They dragged the couple to the basement.  Shane looked at the woman he held.  He smiled at Shannon and bit into her neck.  He kept his eyes on Shannon as she fed.  He jerked tearing into the man.  He lapped at the blood as it flowed.  He let go of the woman and she fell to the floor, just barely alive.  He watched as Shannon did the same. He wiped his mouth, flicking his tongue as to not lose any of the meal.

Shane and Shannon stood by the door.  Shane looked over at Kelly.  She sat like a statue herself.  He had looked through many books trying to find a way to free Grant.  His search has come up empty.  He just didn’t know how.  He looked out into the night.  Morning would be coming soon.  He had placed every protection spell he could find around the house.  He looked back at Kelly.  It worried him that she hadn’t eaten in two days.  He walked over to her.

You need to go and eat! she shook her head.  If not for yourself then think about the baby. She looked up at him.

I can’t, not while he’s like this! she stood up and threw her arms around him. Shannon walked over to her.

What do you think he would want?  Would he want you to starve yourself, and his child? she looked up at Shannon.  She held out her hand.  Shane stood and watched as they disappeared down the steps.  Shane looked over at the alter room.  He walked in and looked at the shelves of books.  He shook his head.  There had to be something here that could help him, or at least point him in the right direction.  Shane closed his eyes, and concentrated.  He asked the higher beings to help him. He opened his eyes, and nodded.  Several books flew through the sky and landed on the table.  He walked up and picked up the first.  He looked at the binding.  Vampires and legends He sat down and opened the book.  He read through the passages.  He stopped and read carefully; The vampire has only one enemy, the Hunters.  An elite group of mystics.  Their power is beyond comprehension.  They use the darkest, and oldest of magic’s.  There is said to be one female that will be able to stand up against their power.  A female that will give birth to a human son.  Only her can stand against the Hunters, and their magics.  Shane reread the passage.  He looked up.  He thought for a second.  Could she be the one?

Shane walked back into the living room.  He walked around Grant.  He thought again about the passage.  He turned as the girls came into the room.

Kelly come here. She walked over to him.  He took her hand, and pulled out a knife.  She immediately pulled it back.  I’m not going to hurt you.  I just need a drop of blood.  Shane took the edge of the knife and slit her finger.  He took it and ran it across Grants arm.  The spot glowed temporarily and then faded.  He turned to her and smiled.  You’re the key!  he ran back into the other room.  He sat down and started to read more of the prophecy.  He waved his hand and other books came to the table.  He looked up and grinned at Kelly.  You and you alone can save Grant.  That baby that grows inside of you is human! she came over and sat down.  Shane slid the book in front of her.  She shook her head.

There must be some mistake.  There isn’t anything special about me!  Shane laughed.

You might not think so, but I’m thinking there’s more to you than you know. He pulled another book to him, and opened it.  Kelly read the binding.  Witch clans... What is your mother’s maiden name?  he looked up at her.

My mother isn’t a witch. He grinned

Maybe she is and you just don’t know she is?  she seemed to think about it for a moment.  There were some things she couldn’t explain.

Henderson, is her maiden name.  Shane flipped to the H’s and slid the book in front of her.

I think we found our answer!  Kelly read through the names.  There at the bottom was her full name.  It now was written in what looked like blood.  She looked up at him.  The book knows you’re a vampire now. She stood up.

There must be some mistake. Shane shook his head.

I don’t think so; these books are magically bound.  Every witch in the US appears in it when they are born.  Look at your mother’s family.  They are as old as mine! he stood up.  We need to go and talk to her.  We need to know if she can help us.  Kelly watched him.

She won’t, she never cared for me.  She has always hated me.  Shane walked over to her.

It’s the only way.  We’re not going to find any answers in these books. The hunters have hidden their secrets to well.  We need answers if we’re going to wake Grant. She stood pushing back her chair.

Fine, but it will be a waste of time.  She won’t help us, and I’m sure she’s not a witch.

Shane and Kelly drove a few hours to Kelly’s parents’ house.  She stood outside looking at the house.  She looked over to see both vehicles still in the driveway.

Well, they are home! she walked up onto the porch and knocked. She stood there waiting.  After a few minutes a tall, balding man opened the door.

Kelly is that you? she nodded. Shane watched as he rushed forward to wrap his arms around her.  Where have you been? he let go of her and looked down at her stomach.  You're pregnant? she just smiled at him.

What’s all the commotion? Kelly looked up as her mom came up behind her father.  Kelly? she rushed up and hugged her too.  I’ve been so worried about you! Kelly took a deep whiff.  Her mom stood back, and began shaking her head.  No! Her eyes went to Shane.  You dirty filthy beast, what have you done to my daughter? she raised her hand, but Kelly stepped in front of her.

Mom, he didn’t do anything.  Shane watched as she took her mom’s hands and the glow subsided.

I didn’t want this for you. Her mom ran back inside.  Her dad stood there looking confused.

Will someone tell me what’s going on? Shane walked up to him, and patted him on the shoulder.  He immediately went to sleep.  Shane caught him, and stepped inside.  They watched as he laid her father on the couch.

Go, and find her.  She has the answers we need. Kelly nodded.  She looked around the familiar house.  She turned and climbed the stairs.  She heard her mom in the bedroom.  She walked over to the doorway, but she couldn’t enter.

Mom! her mom looked up at her shaking her head.

I’m so sorry they found you.  I wasn’t strong enough to hide you. She watched as her mom pulled out a knife from a box, and walked up to her.  I’m sorry, it’s the only way!
