Jake is a young boy from Australia with an adventurous mind. After having a very strange dream the previous Easter about going on a magical hike with Ken and Ben, two aboriginal friends, Jake is hoping to meet Santa Claus at the North Pole when he flies to northern Norway with his mother to spend Christmas with relatives. After encouragement from Ken and Ben, and best mate, Cooper, and despite his mother's scepticism, Jake is very hopeful of meeting Santa, but also knows it probably won't happen. As their departure date gets closer, and his new passport arrives in the mail, Jake's excitement grows. But after going to bed early on his first night in Norway due to jet-lag, Jake soon discovers that wishes do come true for good little boys, as he is transported to the North Pole in a reindeer sleigh by one of Santa's senior elves to meet the 'big man', himself.

Today is the first day of November, and the start of the last month of spring. Six months have passed since Jake’s weird magical Easter dream about hiking with his aboriginal friends, Ken and Ben, in the mountains; a dream never forgotten, because of its strange people, the Easter Bunny, unusual fruit, silly-looking fish, and a giant, scary mud crab.
With Christmas now only eight weeks away, he is starting to feel excited at all of the surprises to come as he rubs the sleep from his eyes. But he doesn’t expect the surprise his mother is about to give him when he walks into the kitchen for breakfast.
MONDAY MORNING, 1st NOVEMBER.
Hi there, my darling boy,
she said, kissing him on the forehead, sleep well?
Jake smiled, Yes, Mum, what’s for breakfast? I’m hungry?
You’re always hungry,
she smiled in return. It’s just your usual cereal, but be quick. Today is a student-free day at your school, and we must walk to the post office to have our photos taken.
Our photos taken?
he asked with curiosity. What for?
His mum replied with a crafty look on her face, Our new passports.
Passports!?
he exclaimed. Aren’t they for overseas holidays? Are we going on an overseas holiday, Mum!?
We sure are,
she grinned. We’re going to Tromso, Norway, for Christmas.
This news made Jake even more excited. You mean to see Aunt Mary, Uncle Lars, and my Norwegian cousins, Bennie and Kennie!?
When his mother nodded, Jake said
