      There are a lot of individuals including many Christians, that what comes first in their lives is not God but rather material things, people who are closer to them, families or business and work colleagues. But all of those things or people can fail us when we need them and actually does not in any way give true meaning to life. God is the giver of life and in Him lies the true meaning of life.

      Then there are a lot of people who do not know what is first in their lives or even think that there is something that is first in their lives. But here are some important things that we really need to understand.

      1. What is first in your life is crucial and would control your destiny or have a severe impact on your life.

      2. What is first in your life is very powerful whether you chose to recognize it or not.

      3. What is first in your life would go beyond you and affect others.

      4. What is first in your life is what you permitted.

      5. What is first in your life is what you will give time to.

      6. What is first in your life would always be revealed.

      7. What is first in your life is what you love.

      8. What is first in your life can be replaced.

      9. What is first in your life would produce a result(s).

      10. What is first in your life is what you know.

      11. What is first in your life can last in your life.

      12. What is first in your life would be identified by others

      What is first in our lives can affect every single aspect of our existence including decisions, actions, thoughts, those around us and just about every other thing related to us. But it is paramount that we understand how it affects our relationship with God. The truth is that God can never be placed second in our lives. But often, I must admit that that is the case even with the followers of Christ. I was guilty of this even as a great lover of God for many years until I began to see things differently.

      This is one of the reasons most of us go to church and still do not feel the presence of God around us, and we keep asking why. It is when God is number one in your life, first in your career, first in your family, first in your ministry, that you will see His hand rise in your life and feel His presence in everything that has to do with you.

      Your relationship with God must be clean, clear and strong. One way of ensuring that it would be like that is making God first in your life. There must be no second place for God in your life. Let’s see something from the book of Genesis,

      Gen 2v1-25
