Laurelis Justice
Laurelis Justice was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. She is the product of two strong parents and a combination of public and parochial schooling. With a great respect for philosophy, Laurelis’ undergraduate and graduate studies focus on psychology, counseling, education and research. Having seen and experienced malicious roadblocks to success by privileged gatekeepers, Laurelis understands the harmful impact of oppression on self-esteem, particularly as it relates to cultural identity. Laurelis believes that oppression will find an outlet and that it’s up to the individual to decide what to do with the built-up negativity (pain), to spread it or to channel it into something positive (peace). Whether it be painting, dancing, singing, writing, telling jokes or any number of creative art forms, Laurelis believes in the power of positive expression as an outlet for personal hardship and oppression.
