    Preface

If there is one piece of literary advice I have learned to embrace over the years it’s writing about what I’m already an expert in. I will admit to a few bouts of hard-headedness along the way. I have lived the triumph of being reunited with and reconciled to estranged loved ones, and days later received the disheartening news they were no longer living. I have climbed these mountains – all of them – more than once.

Since you are reading this book I can only assume you are experiencing a letdown yourself. Let me begin by saying I
