Though it may sound strange, singing may actually cure snoring. The reason for this is that singing makes the muscles in your throat a lot stronger over time. Stop Snoring Today With These Helpful Tips

Snoring plagues many people. There is a good chance that either you, or your loved one, is a snorer. Snoring has been known to end a marriage in the past! Whether you are a snorer or are someone who has to live with one, the information and tips in this book can help you.

Though it may sound strange, singing may actually cure snoring. The reason for this is that singing makes the muscles in your throat a lot stronger over time. If you strengthen your throat muscles, you are much less likely to snore. There are also some musical instruments that you can play, such as a saxophone or trumpet, that will work to strengthen the throat muscles.

It is possible to stop snoring by making a face like a fish. Although it may sound strange, these faces help strengthen your facial and throat muscles. To do the exercises, keep your mouth closed while sucking in your cheeks. Move the lips like a fish. For best results, try this exercise several times every day.

Keep yourself hydrated to avoid snoring. When you are hydrated, your nasal passages stay unclogged and you are able to breathe without snoring. Try to drink at least ten cups of juice, water or any other non caffeinated and non alcoholic drinks each day as this can reduce the effects of your snoring.

Prescription medications may be causing your snoring, speak with your doctor about it. This a side effect common to a lot of medications. Medications that are intended to relax the muscles, such as sleeping pills, pain killers, antihistamines and muscle relaxants, loosen the throat muscles constricting the airway. Airways that are too narrow cause snoring.

A firm pillow can help to reduce snoring. A soft pillow allows your head to fall into a position which causes your throat to collapse. You snore because your airways are somewhat obstructed. If you have a firmer pillow, it will help hold the airways open.

If you snore often, drinking alcohol may make it worse. You will also want to avoid any kind of tranquilizer or antihistamine before you sleep. These things cause your muscles to relax, and will limit your ability to take in air, which causes snoring.

Cut down on exercise no less than one hour before bedtime. The shortness of breath that can be associated with exercise is not helpful when going to sleep. Constriction of the airways may lead to an increase in snoring while you sleep.

Run a humidifier all night long in your bedroom. A humidifier provides a constant flow of warm, moist air. Breathing in such air keep your throat, airway, and nasal passages moisturized.
