We are already familiar with assessment: it is inscribed in our culture, because from the time we first start school, we experience this frequently unpleasant process. And although we no longer receive good or bad grades in the professional world, we are nonetheless regularly appraised by our superiors. Although we sometimes dread and often criticise these evaluations, they are undeniably useful, particularly for judging our progress. However, assessment is much more complicated than it seems, and this is all the more true when we take on the double role of assessor and assessed!
