    Bright red lights exploded through the sky like a fourth of July fireworks display. But there were no oohs and ahhs from the crowd, only choked gasps while Molly and the rest of the fleet stared up in horror at the disintegrating spacecraft, her fiancé inside. A scream boiled inside until it burst from her lungs, blocking out all other sound.

    Diego’s jet had crashed to the ground in a fiery ball and the chip implanted in his neck, reading his vital signs had flat-lined, but no traces of the chip or his body had been found. Nothing. And without that closure, Molly refused to admit he was dead.
