Chapter 1
Prepare Your Way
So, Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the LORD his God. 2 Chronicles 27:6
Every great adventure begins with effective preparation. Preparation is paramount. If you don’t consciously prepare yourself towards the future you expect, you may never get there. There is a story of a young man called Jotham who began to reign at age of twenty five and reigned for sixteen years. He did what was right in the sight of God and did exploits as a young man but the Bible recorded that he became mighty because he prepared his ways before the Lord his God.
How prepared are you to obtain the success you desire in life? Nobody succeeds because he wishes to. Success comes with a conscious effort to make a difference in your world. Age is not a barrier to success, neither is gender a disadvantage. You are free to express yourself, stretch beyond the limits, set new records and dominate your world. God has given you the ability and the grace to maximize your destiny.
Begin to prepare for the future you expect.
Don’t wait for the future to meet you where you are.
Paul the Apostle traveled to Arabia to prepare himself towards the ministry the Lord gave to him. He neither rushed to Jerusalem to commence immediately nor did he stay with other Apostles. He retreated for three years in the secret place of preparation building himself up to undertake the assignment which the Lord committed into his hands (Galatians 1:15-18). You don’t assume you will just succeed because you were directed to function in a particular area; you need preparation! Effective preparation gets you fortified for any task. If you don’t prepare towards whatever you desire to attain, the chances of realizing it is slim. Because of the level of his preparation, Paul did exploits and obtained greater results than his contemporaries..
I remember when God unveiled His plan and purpose for my life to me; excitedly I asked, Lord when do I start?
and He told me to take heed to myself first! He instructed that I should begin to build up the capacity to match up with that assignment. I had been turning down invitations to minister for years until the fullness of time came for me to launch out. I was not idle. I was working on myself and preparing for the great task ahead. If you don’t prepare yourself towards the future you expect to see, there is absolutely nothing to look forward to.
Every profession requires some level of learning, skill acquisition and training. You don’t wish to win the trophy if you are not ready to practice and prepare yourself ahead of the game. You don’t need "luck" to win, but you need performance! Adequate preparation gives you an advantage in what you expect to accomplish.
Jesus, our perfect example, prepared Himself towards the assignment He was created to do. There was a time He was learning in His father’s carpentry workshop and also a time He went into the wilderness in preparation for His great ministry. He did not just wake up and commence ministry work. It took a process. This is the time to start preparing towards the future you desire. You don’t wait for the future. So, don’t allow life to keep you static. Keep working towards achieving all that God has called you to do as you prepare for greater opportunities. Don’t wait for opportunities; prepare yourself to meet with them because they often come unannounced. Prepared people never lose their places in destiny because they live ready. As you prepare your ways, your greatness will be limitless!
Points to Ponder:
How prepared are you towards the kind of future you desire to see?
Are you waiting for opportunity or you are preparing yourself for opportunity?
What kind of result do you want to get?
Chapter 2
Believe in Yourself
Moreover the Word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seeth thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree. Then said the LORD unto me, thou hast well seen: for I will hasten My Word to perform it. Jeremiah 1:11-12
It is what you can see and believe about yourself that God hasten to perform in your life. What you get in the ultimate is a measure of all you can see about yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will. To succeed and be your best begins with you having the right perspective about yourself. John Maxwell said, You will become on the outside what you believe on the inside.
No one will treat you as important if you don’t think you are. If you see yourself as a nobody,
then nobody will regard you as somebody.
As you maintain the virtue of not overestimating yourself, you should at the same time be careful not to underestimate yourself. Don’t make anyone see you as a liability, no matter the level of your needs at the moment because it will affect how they view and treat you.
Jesus understood that He was important and that was why He kept quite when the woman anointed His feet with expensive oil. His disciples saw it as waste and suggested that the oil should be sold to cater for the poor. But Jesus, even though not in need, had a proper understanding of how He should be treated because He had proper self-esteem.
Most people live their lives based on other people’s opinions about them. Don’t conclude so
