A Day in the Life of an Autistic Mind - Dennis Adonis

    •  Introduction

    ■  The role of the media & your reputation

There is an old adage which reason that the pen is mightier than the sword.

In other words, something that is written and published has the capacity to do more harm to a person, a business entity, or an entire nation, than the sharp edges of a thousand swords.

But even though this adage is there as an established sense of fact, it is often kept out of our focus, as our minds seem to be more preemptively fearful of those things that are physical or tangible, rather than having any prophylactic concern for a bundle of words printed on a piece of newspaper, or a news presenter babbling away on our television screen.

For most of us, or rather our subconscious, those words on a paper or of a babbling presenter is not our life’s priorities (or so we thought).

By nature, we somehow tend to keep the relevance of the news media in our lives to an almost subliminal minimum.

As a matter of fact, we often underestimate the almost immeasurable power of the news media, and its profound capacity to influence people’s minds or their views, and even our own personal lives.

Because in reality, the world relies on the economic predictions of the news media, and the opinions of journalists and news media outlets in order to make informed decisions.

From an update on the weather, to the prevailing currency market, and updates on the latest global news events, our life and our ability to decide, now heavily rely on the news media more than we had actually thought.

For example, the sale of this book can be increased by a thousand percent if the New York Times add it to their best seller list, or if it is featured on the Oprah channel as a must read.

And even if it doesn't make any sense to the average reader, the public would still be inclined to buy it because the New York Times or the Oprah Channel say that they should do so.

Similarly, if Time Magazine names you as one of the most influential persons of the 21st century, or one of the best economists that ever lived, that is what the world would accept and approve of, even if you don't have a clue about economics.

In the same way, if those same media outlets tell the world that you are a crooked or horrible person, the world would believe that, whether there is enough facts to substantiate that characterization or not.

That being said, and if you can understand or appreciate my point, you would agree that the world is indirectly reliant on the news media as a primary source of information and a source of reference more than any other medium on the planet.

Therefore, depending on what is out there about you in the media, that is what people tend to use to evaluate and determine your reputation, among other things.

And because of that, you would further agree that the news media can either make or break any person or anything, by publishing either positive or negative content about them in print or online.

By extension, the news media practically holds the Sword of Damocles over your reputation, and in essence, can decide whether you live your life with a good one or whether you struggle through the perils of time with a bad one.

And while it will be great to be on the good side of the news media so as to preserve your good reputation, that is usually not a choice for you to make.

But whenever the media spills the bad reputation oil on you, then in that case, you have a choice.

And that choice is to either stay with that dirty reputation oil spilled out all over your skin, or be brave enough to follow my lead in this book, and let me show you how you can survive those dirty reputation oil spills, and how to clean yourself up too.

After all, my reputation was similarly thrown in the dirty oil gutter (and maybe is still being thrown in the gutter) by one group of people with one clear agenda.

But if I was able to survive it, and was still able to achieve my life goals without any hindrances; - so can you.

    •  The importance of your reputation

One of the most prized possessions that any company, any place, any country, or a person can have is their good reputation.

After all, it is the one piece of celestial asset that walks before us, walks with us, and walks after us, all at the same
