Sierra Danvers carried her packages in from the car and piled them in the middle of the floor. There were gifts to wrap, the tree to put up, and she hadn’t even had time to check the mail in the past week. First things first,
she said to herself and walked out to get the mail.
She loved the Christmas season. The December wind was cold and invigorating and fat snowflakes fell in a lazy fashion, as she pulled open the mailbox lid. My goodness. The mailman couldn’t possibly get anymore in here!
She muttered, piling her arms up with the mail and walking back into the house.
Sierra laid the letters on the coffee table by the phone, pulled off her coat, and sat down on the sofa. As she sorted through them, the phone rang. She reached over and pressed the hands free button. Hello, Merry Christmas!
Driving through the snow, on a darkened winter’s night. Over the hill you go, oh, it’s such a fright.
Who is this?
Sierra asked, frowning at the familiar Christmas carol tune substituted with ominous words.
