      Protector, Protect Her

      Tears fall from her eyes as an innocence becomes guilt

      No words can describe the degradation in which she’s felt

      How can a king abase himself to the lowly standards of a foolish desire?

      Chapter 1: Present

      Black –– the only color void of light. The only color in which Monica could see as she slowly attempted to lift her heavy eyelids. Her mind was befogged by the wet rag her captor used earlier to cloud her senses. The feel of the extension cords tied ever so tightly around her wrists and ankles gave the young girl an agonizing hurt that she had never experienced in her life.

      As she wiggled, the cords embedded even further in her raw flesh. The stench of her surroundings became more noticeable as Monica started to slightly strengthen. Her eyes fluttered as they finally began to open. Blurriness enveloped her every vision as she painfully turned her head from left to right.

      Suddenly, the sound of footsteps coming caused alarm to grow in her heart. As she viewed the only entrance to the tiny, messy bedroom begin to creak open, fright gripped Monica’s throat so that she couldn’t make a sound. Shutting her eyelids tight, she was too afraid to watch the mysterious figure make his way through the door.

      Monica didn’t want to accept the fact that this was reality. She desperately wanted to believe that she had somehow become an actress playing out some horrid movie scene, or better yet, asleep having some terrible nightmare in which she would wake up from at any moment.

      As he viciously took his hand and wrapped it snug around her throat, Monica instantly opened her eyes to the realization that she was
