About this ebook
Children on the Autism spectrum can learn and grow using their own creative process. With the right understanding, parents and professionals can help their children thrive by offering them adapted and creative projects that tap into strengths. This book combines theory as well as hands-on strategies by defining the practice of art therapy, the DIR Floortime approach, background on social stories, sensory processing, and other related topics. The chapters are broken down to allow the reader to navigate topics independently. Written by a credentialed art therapist with clinical experience, this book is a brief and basic primer for those that are interested learning more about the uses of art therapy and creative ways to work with children who have Autism and related disorders.

Introduction
About This Ebook
This eBook is a collection of my experience and ideas that I have used throughout my 20+ years as an art therapist and most recently my work with children on the Autism spectrum. It is a collection and combination of blog articles, short essays and some hands-on approaches that I have shared on my website.
The information contained in this eBook is not intended to replace treatment or be a substitute for professional help. It is written to inform the reader about how art therapy and related creative strategies can be utilized and applied by a credentialed professional or a caregiver who wants to support their child’s progress in combination with their therapies.
I started Colors of Play, LLC back in 2009 because I wanted to develop a clinical private practice. As the Internet grew, I began to write about my work on my own blog/website. Social media has also enabled me and other art therapists to share the work and to educate more people about its benefits.
I believe in the power of art and creativity and try to keep up with my own art-making as well. My personal website features my own artwork. I continue to discover and develop my own artistic styles and skills.
Thank you for taking the time to read this eBook and I hope you enjoy it!
