A fun boys own adventure with a young James Bind and friends taking on the Nazis in a story of double agents and iron man like diesel punk suits. An interesting take on a young bond and his 1930’s world. Fun, readable and well paced but blesses with the same realism as the rest of the Bond series. The echoes of what is to come is fun to spot though.

I'm not sure that I can put my finger on what I disliked about Strike Lightning. Certainly, Cole did a better job of evoking the 1930s in this book than in his first entry in the Young Bond series. But still something about the plot just didn't grab me.
