About this ebook
He antagonises his neighbours, tortures American missionaries with passages from Adorno, flirts with the revolutionary greengrocer, and in short does everything that can be done to fend off the boredom of retirement and old age . . . while still holding a beer.
A delicious take-down of pretensions to cultural posterity, I’ll Sell You a Dog is a comic novel whose absurd inventions, scurrilous antics and oddball characters are vintage Villalobos.
Juan Pablo Villalobos

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5In the beginning the absurdity and humor of the story keeps you going but about halfway I knew what to expect and it became tedious. There is not enough of a real story going on to pull you through.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Enjoyed this quite a bit, despite the 'literary/artistic' culture. Fun book. Latin-American writers are so much more entertaining than Spanish ones...Also got to hang out a bit with Juan Pablo while Rosalind was here (July).
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Amusing comic novel, though the jokes start wearing thin after a while. Considering that even children's cartoons and TV commercials are now self-reflexive, I don't understand why other reviewers found that aspect so exciting.
