About this ebook

Detective Sergeant Halloran pulls up to the front gate of a Cove Hill estate. The uniform at the gate lets him in and he parks his car in a space, off the driveway. He gets out of his car and walks to the large, ornate front door of a mansion. He rings the bell and a uniform lets him in. “Up the stairs and all the way to your left.” Halloran climbs the stairs. As he gets to the end of the second floor hallway, there are two uniforms and a very frightened woman, dressed as a maid. Halloran asks,”What’s the story?”
The maid blurts out, “I’m a maid, employed by Mr. Falcone (she pronounces it as fal-cone-ay.) We got a call, from the security service. They said that Mr. Falcone was in trouble. Pedro, the butler, and I went upstairs, to check. I opened the door and Pedro went in to check. He came back and told me that Mr. Falcone was dead. Pedro then got a gun and said that he was gonna go out and check the grounds. Shortly after that, I heard sirens and the police came.”
One of the uniforms says, “We picked up one Pedro Garcia, trying to sneak down the road.”
Halloran sighs, “Ah yes, Pedro Garcia, also known as Pistolero. He’s wanted by the Mexican police for murder, kidnapping, arson and overtime parking, although that last hasn’t yet been proven in a court of law. I’m familiar with Pistolero.”
Halloran turns to the maid. “You are not a maid.”
The woman sighs, I have what you call a Masters Degree in languages. I speak Español, Spanish, your English, French, German and I can get by in Russian. I manage the maids. There are three maids and a cook. The maids and the cook speak Español and a very few words of English.”
Halloran asks, “And, Pedro Garcia, Pistolero?
The woman sighs, “Pedro Garcia speaks mainly filth, in either Español or English. I have as little to do with him as I can manage.”
Halloran asks, “The maids and the cook?”
The woman sighs, “The maids and the cook are downstairs, scared out of their minds.”
Halloran asks the maid, “You did not enter the room?”
The maid says, “Only Pedro Garcia entered the room.”
Halloran asks the maid, “The room door was locked?”
The maid says, “Yes. Only I and Señor Falcone have the door key. There is another key, in a locked container, that is alarmed, so that the security service knows if it has been opened.”
Halloran asks the maid, “The room door is made of steel?”
The maid says, “Yes. Señor Falcone told me that it was made of two inches of armor steel.”
About this time, a forensics squad arrives from, downtown. They want into the room. I tell the maid, “The people are here to investigate the death of Señor Falcone. Please open the door for them.”
The maid unlocks the door and then punches in some sort of code on a little key pad. She then opens the door.
The forensics squad goes in and begins to do that which they do.
Meanwhile, four uniforms march Pedro Garcia into the living room.
Halloran walks down to the living room and snarls, “What have we here? Pedro Garcia, the pistolero who murdered Señor Falcone?”
Pedro Garcia says, “I did not murder Señor Falcone.”
Halloran sneers, “Señor Falcone died in a sealed room. You were in the sealed room. We have only two other suspects, the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus. Why did you do it, Pedro Garcia?”
Pedro Garcia says, “I did not murder Señor Falcone. Señor Falcone was dead when I entered the room.”
Halloran sneers, “Señor Falcone died in a sealed room. He was shot, stabbed, what?”
Pedro Garcia says, “I did not murder Señor Falcone. Señor Falcone was dead when I entered the room. He did not show gun shot wound or stab wound. He was just dead.”
Halloran sneers, “Señor Falcone died in a sealed room. You went in the room and then you ran.”
Pedro Garcia says, “I did not murder Señor Falcone. Señor Falcone was dead when I entered the room. I was wanted by others, for other matters, I ran to save my life.”
Halloran sneers, “Señor Falcone

I'm the co-author, with Sunset Thomas, of Anatomy of An Adult Film.I have 48 novels and over 299 short stories currently published.I spent my early years in the part of Los Angeles known as the South Central. I was known as Whi' Boy, which was sufficient to identify me in that place. I'm a skilled Kung Fu player, using a system that I learned from a Korean I knew only as 'Pak.' It would be easier to tell you the places that Pak wasn't wanted by the police, rather than the places where he was wanted by the police. Pak's Kung Fu system, augmented by some bits and pieces from some Chinese practitioners is quick and effective, or I wouldn't be alive today. My early education was mostly obtained by stealing books from the public library (I always returned them and the Librarian even began to provide me with reading lists.) I did go to high schools, but I never really learned anything there. I eventually graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles, UCLA, with a degree in mathematics.I work as a Systems Analyst and also make a part of my living as a professional gambler (legal in Nevada.) I write science fiction and erotica. My published novels are:Anatomy of An Adult Film (With Sunset Thomas)1. Second Chance: God Killer2. Second Chance: Sky Pirate3. Second Chance: Scroll Seeker4.
